Nature of Position
The Government of Uganda (GoU) is a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol. Uganda adopts a settlement approach to refugee management and protection, whereby, upon receiving refugee status, new arrivals are provided with plots of land in refugee-hosting villages on which to build new homes and grow agricultural crops. Refugees can freely access public services such as health and education and are granted a range of rights and freedoms, including freedom of movement, to seek employment and to start their own business.
SO Arua cover multiple refugee settlements, including Bidibidi, Rhino Camp, Imvepi, and Lobule Refugee Settlements. These settlements have been established to provide shelter and essential services to refugees fleeing conflict and persecution in neighbouring countries, such as South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The active population of PWS registered as of end October 2023 is 197,296 individuals for Bidibidi, 150,365 for Rhino Camp, 66,654 for Imvepi and 6,025 individuals for Lobule.
The Assistant Field Security Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of personnel and assets in potentially challenging environments.
The Assistant Field Security Officer manages and provides support to all security-related aspects of field operations including Staff, premises and assets.Â
The incumbent ensures coexistence in the diversified community through community dialogue and policing in collaboration with the Host government actors. The incumbent is to apply security skills appropriately in a refugee and humanitarian context by supporting FDPs, Mission and provide guidance to the Senior Managers and the Field colleagues.
