We are seeking motivated, target-driven, and socially-minded Sales Agents (Field Officers) to join our growing team. Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Actively prospect, identify, and recruit new clients (individuals, groups, small business owners) within your assigned territory.
- Promote the institution’s loan products, savings accounts, and other financial services effectively.
- Conduct field visits, community meetings, and local networking to generate leads and build a strong client pipeline.
- Meet and exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets for loan disbursements and new account openings.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly sales activity reports to your supervisor.
- Guide clients through the loan application process—from initial inquiry to documentation and approval.
- Explain product features, terms, conditions, and repayment schedules clearly and transparently.
- Provide basic financial literacy education to help clients make informed borrowing and saving decisions.
- Ensure all client documents are accurately collected, verified, and submitted in compliance with institutional policies.
- Maintain regular contact with clients to ensure satisfaction, address concerns, and encourage timely repayments.
- Support clients in developing feasible business or personal financial plans where applicable.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling or upselling suitable products to existing clients.
- Gather client feedback to help improve products and services.
- Adhere to the institution’s code of conduct, ethical lending practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all sales activities are recorded accurately in the institution’s CRM or loan tracking system.
- Assist in the follow-up of overdue repayments in collaboration with the collections team.
- Minimum of a Diploma; A degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, or related field is an advantage.
- At least 1 year of experience in field sales, preferably in microfinance, banking, FMCG, or telecom sales.
- Proven ability to meet sales targets and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Basic numeracy and comfort with handling financial discussions.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area (own motorcycle or ability to use public transport is a plus).
- Familiarity with the local community, culture, and business landscape.
- Prior experience as a Field Officer or Sales Agent in a microfinance institution, SACCO, or bank.
- Understanding of group lending methodologies (e.g., village banking, solidarity groups).
- Proficiency using mobile data collection tools or CRM systems.
- Valid riding permit (Class A) is advantageous.
- Empathetic and patient, with a genuine desire to help clients improve their financial well-being.
- Honest, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable working in rural or peri-urban settings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle client objections professionally.
