Security Investigator
Job summary
Conduct investigations into suspected theft, fraud, policy violations, workplace misconduct, and security incidents to protect company assets, reputation, and personnel. Gather and analyze evidence, interview witnesses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective or legal actions.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Receive, triage, and assign reported incidents; maintain case files and chain-of-custody for evidence.
- Conduct interviews of employees, witnesses, and suspects using best-practice interviewing techniques.
- Collect and preserve physical, electronic, and CCTV evidence; coordinate with IT for digital forensics as needed.
- Review access logs, transaction records, video footage, communications, and other data sources to identify facts and patterns.
- Prepare clear, timely investigative reports with findings, root causes, and recommended corrective or disciplinary actions
- Coordinate with HR, legal, law enforcement, and other stakeholders; assist in criminal prosecutions when appropriate.
- Testify in administrative or legal proceedings as required.
- Monitor case outcomes and implement lessons learned to reduce recurrence (policy revisions, training, controls).
- Maintain confidentiality, comply with privacy laws and company policies, and handle sensitive information professionally
