Job Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all operational activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with agreed quality and safety standards. This role translates the COO's operational strategy into structured execution, ensuring teams, suppliers, and company assets perform efficiently, safely, and consistently.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Operational Execution & Project Delivery
● Plan, schedule, and oversee daily operations across fabrication, installations, logistics, and site works.
● Ensure projects and contracts are executed in line with approved scope, timelines, and budgets.
● Manage end-to-end project delivery from planning through commissioning and client handover.
● Track operational KPIs (delivery timelines, productivity, downtime, rework) and submit weekly reports to the COO.
● Ensure smooth handovers between Sales, Production, Installation, and Client Sign-off stages.
● Contribute to the annual and long-term operational strategy in collaboration with the COO, ensuring alignment with the overall business goals and growth targets
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
● Supervise site supervisors, foremen, technicians, drivers, and installation teams.
● Assign work, monitor performance, and enforce discipline, safety, and quality standards.
● Conduct daily and weekly toolbox talks, site briefings, and performance check-ins.
● Develop and mentor high-potential team members, and implement succession planning for key operational roles to ensure organizational resilience and future leadership pipeline
3. Process & Systems Management
● Implement, enforce, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs).
● Improve workflow efficiency by reducing delays, rework, wastage, and idle time.
● Maintain accurate operational records, including job cards, schedules, delivery notes, and site reports.
● Support adoption and use of digital tools such as trackers, dashboards, ERP systems, and inspection apps.
4. Quality Control, Compliance & Safety
● Enforce quality standards across fabrication, installation, and finishing works.
● Ensure compliance with client specifications, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
● Conduct regular inspections and operational audits across sites and workshops.
● Lead corrective actions for defects, delays, or non-compliance issues.
5. Logistics, Assets & Resource Management
● Plan and manage vehicles, tools, equipment, scaffolding, materials, and installations.
● Coordinate procurement requests with Stores and Finance to prevent stock-outs and delays.
● Ensure proper use, care, accountability, and tracking of company assets.
● Oversee transport planning, route optimisation, and fuel control.
6. Cost Control & Operational Efficiency
● Monitor operational costs and ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
● Directly manage the operational budget, including capital expenditure planning for equipment and facility upgrades.
● Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
● Control overtime, wastage, and emergency expenditure through effective planning.
● Support the COO in operational budgeting and forecasting.
7. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination
● Work closely with Sales, Creative, Production, and Finance Teams.
● Liaise with landlords, councils, utilities, and other site stakeholders.
● Support client site visits, inspections, and handovers where required.
● Escalate operational risks and constraints to the COO early with proposed solutions.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Project
Management, or a related field
Experience:
● 4–7 years’ experience in operations or project management roles
Technical Skills:
● Strong background in construction, manufacturing, engineering, or large-scale installations
● Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Professional Certifications
● Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent)
● Health & Safety certification (OSHA or equivalent)
● Operations or process improvement certification is an added advantage
