Business Development Officer
Job summary
Business Development Officer is responsible for growing and protecting margin-positive 3PL revenue by managing assigned clients and new opportunities in line with BLL’s service standards, pricing discipline, and utilisation objectives. This role does not chase volume. It executes BLL’s commercial strategy at client level.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Manage assigned 3PL clients end-to-end
- Grow revenue per client through Increased throughput and additional standard services
- Maintain predictable volume and billing accuracy
- Right-Fit Pipeline & Business Development Discipline
- Identify and pursue new clients that Fit BLL’s standard service model and improve warehouse and equipment utilisation.
- Maintain a structured pipeline of qualified prospects aligned with BLL’s right-fit criteria and utilisation objectives.
- Ensure prospect qualification occurs before proposal development to prevent misaligned opportunities from entering the commercial pipeline.
- Screen out opportunities that create excessive customisation or low margins
- Prepare proposals using approved service playbooks
- Ensure: Correct service definition, validated costing and pricing, and that Operational feasibility is confirmed with Ops.
- Support structured client onboarding
- Apply approved pricing models without unauthorised discounting
- Escalate any pricing or scope exceptions for approval
- Prevent scope creep during contract execution
- Monitor SLA performance and client satisfaction
- Escalate risks early (volume volatility, cost-to-serve increases)
- Ensure client concerns are logged through the company’s client issue management system and follow resolution discipline in coordination with Operations.
- Right Fit New Clients- Number of new clients meeting right-fit criteria
- Net Utilisation Impact-Net CBM impact from new vs exited clients (assigned portfolio)
- Client Revenue Growth-Revenue per assigned client
- Client Margin-Gross margin per client
- Pipeline Quality-% qualified prospects meeting right-fit criteria
- Client Retention-Retention of assigned clients
- Pipeline Discipline-Qualified pipeline coverage
- Pricing Discipline-Pricing deviations
- Proposal Discipline- Proposals using standard playbooks
- Issue Discipline-Incidents logged within SLA
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Development, Business Administration, Procurement and Supply Chain, or any other related course from a recognizable institution.
- 1-3 years of work Experience in a relevant field
