Role Description The Sewing Machine role is a full-time, on-site position located in Kawaala Central. The individual in this role will operate sewing machines to stitch, alter, and repair garments according to customer measurements and design specifications. Day-to-day tasks include cutting fabric, assembling garment pieces, performing fittings, and making adjustments to ensure proper fit and finish. The role also involves maintaining sewing equipment, selecting appropriate threads and materials, and ensuring work areas are clean and organized. The person in this position will collaborate with other tailoring staff, follow work orders and deadlines, and interact respectfully with customers when needed to clarify requirements.
Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines, including threading, tension adjustment, and basic maintenance.
• Strong garment construction skills, including cutting, stitching, hemming, and finishing different types of fabrics.
• Ability to take accurate body measurements and translate them into patterns or adjustments for a proper fit.
• Experience with alterations and repairs, such as resizing garments, replacing zippers, buttons, and adjusting seams.
• Attention to detail and quality, with the ability to produce neat, consistent stitching and clean finishing.
• Basic knowledge of fabric types, thread selection, and appropriate seam techniques for durability and comfort.
• Good time management skills and the ability to handle multiple orders while meeting agreed timelines.
• Clear communication skills and a professional, respectful approach when working with colleagues and customers.
• Prior experience in a tailoring shop or garment production environment is highly beneficial.
• Willingness to learn, adapt to shop standards, and follow health and safety guidelines in the workplace.
