Duty Station: Kampala (with frequent travel upcountry within Uganda)
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Planning and Strategy
- Develop and implement monthly and quarterly sales plans in line with company targets and strategic priorities.
- Analyze market trends, customer segments and competitors, and recommend appropriate sales strategies and product focus areas.
- Identify and prioritise high‑ potential regions and customer segments, including upcountry markets, and design appropriate field plans.
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Lead, supervise and motivate the sales team (head office and branches) to achieve individual and team targets.
- Set clear, measurable KPIs for sales staff (customer contacts, quotations, confirmed orders, closed sales, collections where applicable).
- Conduct regular field coaching, joint customer visits and weekly performance review meetings.
- Support recruitment, induction, training and performance appraisal of sales staff in coordination with HR.
Field Implementation and Upcountry Coverage
- Plan and conduct regular field visits, including upcountry travel, to support sales staff, open new markets and build relationships with key clients and partners.
- Ensure that each branch or assigned territory has a clear coverage plan, including targeted areas, key accounts and scheduled visits.
- Monitor field execution and ensure that customer feedback, market intelligence and opportunities from the field are reported and acted upon.
Sales Process and Coordination
- Ensure that all sales activities follow approved company procedures, including proper quotations, order confirmations, payment processes and documentation.
- Coordinate closely with Administration for order processing, payment confirmation and customer communication.
- Work with Warehouse to ensure accurate stock information, timely deliveries and proper documentation of goods issued.
- Coordinate with Aftersales to ensure accurate handover of jobs, proper installation scheduling and resolution of customer issues.
Reporting, Monitoring and Control
- Consolidate daily and weekly sales reports from all sales staff and present clear summaries, trends and action points to Management.
- Track performance against targets at individual, branch and company level and recommend corrective actions where there are gaps.
- Ensure that customer, sales and prospect records are properly maintained and updated.
Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain relationships with key customers, distributors, dealers and partners.
- Handle major customer escalations and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Promote repeat business and long‑ term relationships by ensuring that customers receive honest information and reliable after‑ sales support.
Compliance, Conduct and Company Representation
- Ensure that all sales staff comply with company policies, departmental guidelines and the HR Manual.
- Enforce rules against unauthorized discounts, side deals, misrepresentation of products or misuse of company resources.
- Represent the Company professionally in all meetings, events and communications.
Other Duties
- Perform any other related sales management and business development duties as may reasonably be assigned by Management from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A professional qualification or training in sales and marketing will be an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 3–5 years’ proven experience in field sales, of which at least 2 years should be in a supervisory or managerial sales role.
- Demonstrable experience managing a sales team, preferably in the energy, solar, FMCG, or related sectors.
- Experience working in or managing upcountry markets and willingness to travel frequently within Uganda.

- Excellent selling, negotiation and closing skills.
- Good understanding of sales planning, pipeline management and basic sales analytics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams and customers.
- High level of integrity, honesty and accountability.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, email and reporting tools).
- Ability and willingness to travel upcountry regularly, sometimes at short notice.
