Lead Central Planning and Control - GIS

Role Purpose

The Lead – Central Planning & Control is responsible for the strategic design and operational oversight of Spiro’s energy network. This role ensures that battery swapping and energy infrastructure is optimally deployed to meet demand while maintaining strict control over asset lifecycle and utilization. The position balances high-level network analytics with the "soft management" of cross-functional teams to drive efficient service delivery.

Key Accountabilities

• Network Design & Planning: Lead the strategic layout of swapping stations and energy infrastructure to ensure maximum geographic coverage and customer uptime.
• Asset Management & Optimization: Oversee the lifecycle of batteries and swapping infrastructure, ensuring high utilization rates and minimal downtime.
• Demand Analytics: Conduct deep-dive demand studies and use data-driven insights to forecast energy requirements across the network.
• Operational Control: Implement robust monitoring frameworks to track asset movement and health, preventing loss and optimizing rotation.
• Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the energy distribution chain and implement lean initiatives to enhance network efficiency.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with the local operations and manufacturing teams to align network growth with vehicle deployment

Experience

• Planning & Control Expertise: Proven experience in network planning, asset control, or central planning within a fast-paced environment.
• Startup Operations: Prior experience in program management at startups—specifically those managing physical assets or complex logistics—is highly valued.
• Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing direct teams and the ability to "soft manage" large, diverse teams across different functional areas.
• Process-Driven: Experience working within structured environments where process compliance and safety standards are paramount

Capabilities

• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and network optimization software.
• Analytical Thinking: Strong financial analysis skills to model the ROI of infrastructure deployment and asset longevity.
• Communication: Ability to translate complex data into actionable plans for both field teams and executive leadership.
• Adaptability: Proactive and open to change, with the ability to pivot strategies based on real-time demand shifts in the Nairobi market.
• Quality Commitment: Strong attention to detail regarding asset tracking and reporting accuracy

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or masters in urban/ traffic planning, or equivalent practical experience
• MBA is an added advantage
