ABOUT NUTRINOVA
Nutrinova Uganda Limited is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality animal feeds and poultry nutrition products, serving farmers, agro-dealers, and commercial poultry producers across Uganda. Operating in a competitive agri-business environment alongside industry peers such as Biyinzika, Ugachick, and Yo-Kuku, Nutrinova is poised for significant growth. We are seeking a visionary and commercially astute General Manager to lead the company's overall operations, strategy execution, and growth agenda.
ROLE PURPOSE
The General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across all functions of Nutrinova Uganda, driving business growth, operational excellence, and profitability. This is a senior leadership role responsible for translating the Board's vision into measurable results — overseeing production, commercial performance, financial health, people management, and stakeholder engagement. The GM will be the driving force behind Nutrinova's competitive positioning in Ugandas animal feeds market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
• Develop and execute Nutrinova's annual business strategy in alignment with the Board's vision and long-term growth objectives.
• Identify and pursue market expansion opportunities — including new geographies, product lines, and distribution channels.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity (Biyinzika, Ugachick, Yo-Kuku, and others), and customer needs to inform strategic decisions.
• Lead business development efforts, including key account partnerships, institutional tenders, and agro-dealer network expansion.
2. Operational Management
• Oversee day-to-day operations across production, logistics, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure efficiency and output targets are met.
• Ensure production facilities meet capacity, quality, and safety standards in compliance with regulatory requirements (UNBS, MAAIF).
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operational costs, minimise waste, and improve production yield.
• Implement and monitor SOPs across all departments to ensure consistency and quality of output.
3. Financial Management & Accountability
• Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring cost controls are in place and financial targets are met.
• Review and approve financial reports, cash flow statements, and P&L accounts on a monthly basis.
• Ensure healthy gross margins through pricing strategy, procurement optimisation, and cost efficiency.
• Report financial performance to the Board with clear variance analysis and forward projections.
4. Sales, Marketing & Commercial Performance
• Drive revenue growth through effective commercial strategy — pricing, product positioning, and distribution.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including large-scale poultry farmers, agro- dealers, and institutional buyers.
• Oversee brand development and marketing campaigns to grow Nutrinova's market share in Uganda's feeds sector.
• Set and monitor sales KPIs, ensuring the sales team meets volume and revenue targets consistently.
5. People Leadership & Organisational Development
• Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing senior management team across all functions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
• Work with the HR Manager to attract, retain, and develop top talent aligned to Nutrinova's growth ambitions.
• Manage succession planning for critical roles and ensure leadership depth across the organisation.
6. Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Management
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations — Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), NEMA, and others.
• Maintain strong relationships with regulators, government bodies, industry associations, and key suppliers.
• Represent Nutrinova at industry forums, trade events, and in media where appropriate.
• Provide regular strategic updates to the Board and respond to Board directives with clear action plans.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive management experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role (GM, COO, or equivalent).
• Proven track record in the agri-business, animal feeds, FMCG, or food manufacturing sector in Uganda or East Africa.
• Demonstrated experience managing P&L responsibility and delivering business growth targets.
• Strong knowledge of Uganda's agricultural regulatory landscape (UNBS, MAAIF).
• Experience managing cross-functional teams of 50+ employees across production, commercial, and support functions.

• Strong stakeholder management and board-level communication
• Decisive, results-oriented, and able to manage complexity
