Job Description
As Fresh Produce Business Development Officer, you will lead market expansion for Urban Greens aquaponics and hydroponics produce and fish. You will open new accounts across supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, caterers, distributors, and processors; negotiate offtake contracts and pricing; and build the long-term buyer relationships that keep our produce moving from farm to customer. This role suits someone who already understands how fresh food, hospitality, or FMCG buyers make purchasing decisions in Uganda  whether that experience comes from produce, packaged food, beverages, hotels, restaurants, or retail.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute a sales strategy that targets supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, caterers, processors, and distributors for fresh produce and fish.
• Identify and prioritize new market segments, including hospitality and FMCG retail channels, for consistent produce offtake.
• Monitor market trends, pricing, and competitor activity across the fresh produce, food service, and FMCG landscape to spot opportunities.
• Negotiate and manage offtake contracts and pricing agreements with key buyers and distributors.
• Own and grow existing accounts – ensuring on-time deliveries, consistent quality, and fast resolution of customer concerns.
• Coordinate closely with the production team so sales commitments are always backed by supply.
• Deliver accurate, timely sales forecasts and market reports to management.

What We're Looking For
We welcome candidates from a range of commercial backgrounds  you don't need prior aquaponics or hydroponics experience to succeed in this role.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Commerce, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• 3–5 years in sales, account management, or business development within fresh produce, food and beverage, hospitality (hotels/restaurants/catering), or FMCG in Uganda.
• A track record of winning and growing key accounts, and an existing network of buyers in food, retail, or hospitality is a strong advantage.
• Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently, managing multiple accounts, and operating in a fast-paced start-up environment.
• Knowledge of aquaponics, hydroponics, or organic farming is a plus, not a requirement.
• Genuine interest in sustainability, urban agriculture, and healthy food systems.

Benefits
• Competitive salary and benefits package.
• Opportunity to shape the commercial growth of an innovative, mission-driven agritech start-up.
• A dynamic environment with room to build your own sales pipeline and grow with the company.

If you're passionate about sustainable agriculture, know how to win and keep customers, and thrive in a fast-moving environment, we'd love to hear from you.
