PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To oversee and coordinate daily field operations, ensuring the timely implementation of agronomic activities such as planting, spraying, and harvesting. The Farm Field Supervisor is responsible for managing farm labour, enforcing safety and compliance standards, and supporting efficient use of equipment and inputs to achieve productivity targets and sustainable farming practices.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES UNIQUE TO THE ROLE

1. Supervision and Coordination
- Supervise the work of farm workers, machinery operators, and casual labourers.
- Oversee daily implementation of activities such as planting, spraying, spreading, harvesting, and general field tasks.
- Monitor and ensure proper use of farm equipment and tools. 25
2. Planning
- Assist the Technical Supervisor in developing and executing daily and weekly work plans.
- Estimate labour and equipment needs and advise accordingly. 15
3. Health and Safety
- Ensure all field teams use appropriate PPE.
- Promote and enforce safe disposal practices of input containers and chemicals.10
4. Machine and Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure pre-use machine checks and inspections are conducted.
- Verify that all machines are properly calibrated and maintained.
- Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.15
5. Performance Management
- Monitor performance of farm teams and support the setting of KPIs.
- Identify skill gaps and support continuous on-the-job learning.10
6. Reporting and Communication
- Submit timely and accurate reports on field activity, input usage, and labour productivity.
- Communicate labour and material needs to supervisors.
- Ensure a constant feedback loop with senior management.
7. Compliance and Record Keeping
- Maintain clear and accurate records for all field activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.5
8. Environmental Stewardship
- Promote sustainable field practices, such as soil conservation and responsible chemical use 5

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: At least 3 years of relevant experience in field-based farm operations
Experience
Hands-on experience in supervising large field teams and operating in a mechanised agriculture setting is highly preferred.
Business Understanding /Knowledge
- Good understanding of seasonal crop cycles and agronomic practices
- Knowledge of machine operations and calibration in agricultural settings
- Strong appreciation for safety, quality control, and sustainability
Languages
- Fluency in English
- Ability to speak Luganda, Swahili, or local languages is an added advantage

WORK CONDITIONS
- The role is field-based with exposure to weather conditions (sun, rain, dust)

- May involve weekend work and extended hours during peak seasons
- Mandatory use of PPE
- Must be willing to reside or travel to rural operational sites regularly
