Company Location

UTCL is located along the Kampala Jinja highway near Lugazi municipal council in Buikwe district approximately 48 kilometers from Kampala City and 40 Kilometers from Jinja opposite Mt ST Mary’s College Namagunga.

Company Main Activities
The company mainly deals in the production of tea where 80% of the sales are for the international market and the local market 20%. Made Tea is exported to Mombasa in Kenya to the Auction market with other tea companies around East Africa and sold thereafter. The company also deals with other activities which include afforestation, coffee, cocoa and Bananas.

UTCL produces over 3.5 million kilos of tea annually 10% of Uganda’s national output

Division Managers (Tea, Coffee and Banana Plantations)

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily plantation operations for tea, coffee, and banana crops within the division.
  • Implement approved agronomic practices to achieve targeted yields, quality standards, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage and supervise field supervisors, team leaders, and plantation workers to ensure productivity and discipline.
  • Monitor crop performance, identify pest and disease risks, and implement timely corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with UTCL policies, certification standards, and statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Control use of farm inputs, tools, and machinery while safeguarding company assets.
  • Prepare and submit accurate production, labor, and operational reports to Estate Management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, sustainability, and staff capacity

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plantation Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale tea or mixed-crop plantations.
  • Strong leadership, reporting, and field coordination skills.
