JOB PURPOSE
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the effective management, availability, security and performance of Zakom Tech's network and IT infrastructure. The role will oversee network monitoring, troubleshooting, system security and vendor relationships to ensure reliable service delivery and support the company's operational objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Network Management
▸ Manage, maintain and optimise the company's network infrastructure.
▸ Ensure the availability, reliability and performance of network systems and services.
▸ Support the administration of wired and wireless networks, including ISP and hotspot infrastructure.
▸ Conduct regular network assessments and recommend improvements to infrastructure and performance.
▸ Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, systems and infrastructure.
2. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting
▸ Monitor network performance and system availability on an ongoing basis.
▸ Identify, investigate and resolve network and system faults in a timely manner.
▸ Conduct root cause analysis for recurring technical issues and implement appropriate solutions.
▸ Escalate complex technical issues where necessary and follow through to resolution.
▸ Support the implementation of preventive maintenance measures to minimise service interruptions and downtime.
3. Systems & Network Security
▸ Implement and maintain appropriate network and system security controls.
▸ Monitor systems for security vulnerabilities, unauthorised access and potential threats.
▸ Support the implementation of security policies, procedures and best practices.
▸ Ensure that appropriate backups, access controls and system protection measures are maintained.
▸ Respond to and support the investigation of security incidents.
4. Vendor & Service Provider Management
▸ Manage relationships with relevant technology vendors, equipment suppliers and service providers.
▸ Coordinate technical support and maintenance requirements with external vendors.
▸ Monitor vendor service delivery and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
▸ Support the evaluation and selection of technology solutions and suppliers.
5. Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
▸ Work closely with the Business Manager and Chief Operations Officer to support operational and business objectives.
▸ Identify opportunities to improve network efficiency, reliability and security.
▸ Support technology upgrades, network expansion and infrastructure projects.
▸ Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents and system availability.
▸ Provide technical support to internal teams as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Qualifications & Experience
▸ Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking or a related field.
▸ Professional certifications such as CCNA, Network+ and/or MikroTik will be an added advantage.
▸ At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in network administration, telecommunications operations, ISP environments or wireless networks.
▸ Experience managing and troubleshooting network infrastructure will be highly desirable.
▸ Practical understanding of network monitoring and systems security.
