Job Summary:
Position: Regional Tourism Development Manager
Reports to: CEO
A Regional Tourism Development Manager will be responsible for formulating and implementing a development strategy for our Uganda properties. In partnership with local stakeholders, he/she will initiate, facilitate and promote projects to optimize our business in Uganda.
Core Job Responsibilities a& Duties:
- Responsible for the strategic development of Eastern and Southern Africa clientele base
- provide leadership to maximize our property's potential for generating increased visitor spending and creating compelling, sustainable traveller experiences throughout the country.
- Develops research to measure performance and provides input on strategy, sets performance metrics, and shares findings with key stakeholders, including Ugandan Tourism Board and Industry partners
- Review tourism projects or strategies.
- Provide advice and support for tourism projects.
- Draw up technical specification documents and evaluate responses from service providers.
- Execute the various stages of, and are responsible for, the deliverables of a particular project or client database/portfolio
- They schedule/plan the different stages in the implementation of tourism projects.
- Manages design and delivery of initiatives that promote hospitality training and visitor readiness, with a focus on supporting industry partners in emerging destinations.
- Develops research to measure performance and provides input on strategy, sets performance metrics, and shares findings
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Previous experience in Tourism and preferably extensive exposure working within the Eastern African countries
- Previous knowledge and demonstrated skill in program planning and coordination of multiple projects and assignments.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels in stressful situations and exercise confidentiality and discretion as appropriate.
- Skill in relationship building and networking with a diverse population of organizations, associations, and interest groups.
- Strong oral and written communication skills that include the demonstrated ability to edit and write.
- Excellent time management skills, including the demonstrated ability to meet timelines and prioritize multiple projects.
- Team orientation and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with peers, subordinates, and supervisors.
- Ability and willingness to work hours beyond the standard daily or weekly schedule when necessary.
