The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) is an umbrella organization promoting the rights of Persons with disabilities in Uganda with the vision of having “A Just and Fair Society where Persons with Disabilities live a Prosperous and Dignified life”.  We exist to advocate for the rights of Persons with Disabilities in a unified voice for improved livelihoods.  NUDIPU seeks to recruit a competent Ugandan to fill the following position: 


Reports to: Programme Officer

Duty station: Amolator and Kaberamaido districts


Job Purpose    

To support the implementation of activities under project named; Improving livelihoods and securing the rights of women and girls with disabilities in Amolatar and Kaberamaido, Uganda. The project promotes inclusive livelihoods, financial inclusion, access to SRHR, GBV prevention and response, and social protection for persons with and without disabilities, while strengthening OPDs to advocate for inclusive services and rights


Main Roles and Responsibilities

1.0 Programme planning and development.

1.1 Support in the planning and development of Livelihood, SRH and Gender program 

1.2 Partnerships and linkage of project target beneficiaries and DU to networks and opportunities

1.3 coordinate all livelihoods, SRH, GBV prevention and Advocacy activities of the project at District level

1.4 Conduct mapping, profiling and networking with financial services

1.5 Collect and share relevant project information and data in accordance with the Programme/project M&E frameworks

1.6 Participate in preparation of content and conduct training on project thematics


2.0 IMPLEMENTATION OF ISAVE PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES.

2.1 Take lead in the implementation of iSAVE inclusive economic empowerment    program activities in the district. 

2.2 Supervise and appraise district-based staff

2.3 Preside over community sensitization meetings, Support program wide progress and impact assessments. 

2.4 Carry out technical capacity assessments of the district and establish the district union’s specific work plans. 


3.0 Inclusive Sexual Reproductive Health Rights

3.1 Map and continuously update actors involved in the response to SRHR in the district.

3.2 Support team and partners at the district for implementation of disability inclusive SRHR activities.

3.3 Manage the programme’s implementation, follow up the budget and project planning.

3.4 Identify the capacity building needs of partners at the district levels on SRHR activities for disability inclusion.

3.5 Organize and facilitate training on SRHR and GBV prevention and response.


Education and experience

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Science, Community Based Rehabilitation, or any other related discipline.

• A postgraduate diploma in project planning and management or monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage.                                                                  

Industry experience 

• At least 3 years’ experience in implementing livelihood interventions and community savings schemes, Gender mainstreaming mostly related to economic empowerment.

• Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response and Sexual Reproductive Health rights with a reputable organization.


Communication and Interpersonal skills 

• Should be able speak the local language, Ability to provide effective feedback. Comfortable working in multi-cultural settings. 

• Writing and oral skills in English Language. 

• Ability to speak local language (Langi for Amolatar and Kumam for Kaberamaido)
