The position of security guard is of significant importance and responsibility. The security guard has a special role in helping to create a safe and inviting atmosphere on the compound. Working under the direction of the compound facility manager, the security guard is required to play a key role in the protection of people and assets on the compound as well as maintaining the grounds to a high standard on a day-to-day basis.

Type: Full Time (5 days per week) - Short-term contract of two months
Purpose
The position of Security Guard is of significant importance and responsibility. The Security Guard has a special role in helping to create a safe and inviting atmosphere on the compound.
Working under the direction of the Compound Facility Manager, the Security Guard is required to play a key role in the protection of people and assets on the compound, as well as maintaining the grounds to a high standard on a day-to-day basis.
Overall Responsibilities
- Watch over and protect the entire compound, FCW property, and all occupants of the compound.
- Act as gatekeeper and only allow approved persons onto the compound through one of the appropriate gates.
- Walk around the perimeter of the compound at least one time every hour to check for breaches of the wall.
- Maintain the yard, garden, walkways, driveways, exterior buildings and exterior of the house and keep them neat, clean and presentable.
- Assist in loading and unloading vehicles.
- Assist the Maintenance Worker and other staff with any outdoor tasks they need to do.
- Speak to and interact with all occupants of the compound in a friendly and kind manner.
- Report any suspicious activity to the supervisor immediately.
- Account for and maintain all equipment issued to you to assist in guarding and grounds maintenance.
- Maintain and update a logbook to document all activity on the compound and the required hourly patrols.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as needed and requested by the Compound Facility Manager and/or the Country Director.
- Follow FCW Policies and Procedures regarding access to the buildings and contact with the students.
Hours of work
Work hours will vary according to the program schedule, needs, and holidays; however, the female security guard will be expected to work a minimum of 5 days per week. This will occasionally include weekends and holidays as necessary for the program.
Candidate specifications
- UCE certificate or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
