Technician - Department of Physiology

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Generate reports, inventories and orders in the Unit; 

2.    Generate budgets and account for use of physical resources of the Unit 

3.    Manage the use of laboratory equipment and facilities; 

4.    Compile reports and inventories;

5.    Requisition, maintain and account for financial and other resources;

6.    Prepare and supervise students’ practicals; 

7.    Liaise with and provide support to the academic staff in the teaching of practicals; 

8.    Participate in research to inform best practices in the Department;

9.    Implement and maintain guidelines and regulations to ensure quality assurance, control and safety in unit;

10. Induct and mentor junior staff in the unit on technical skills;

11. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

 Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Science Laboratory Technology

 Experience

At least 3 years relevant working experience in Physiology practical and experimental procedures

 Skills/Competences

i.                            Customer Care; 

ii.                          Ability to communicate precisely and concisely; 

iii.                         Analytical skills; 

iv.                         Proficiency in using machines and computers.
