About the Position
Terya Building and Construction Limited is looking for a Calibration Specialist to join our Calibration Laboratory in Kampala.

This is an opportunity to join a specialized technical operation working with electronic measurement and speed-enforcement systems.

We are not looking for someone who already knows speed-enforcement calibration. This is a specialized field, and the successful candidate will receive comprehensive training from our company.

We are looking for someone with the right technical foundation and the ability to learn.

A candidate with a background in Electronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, Telecommunications, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, IT, or a related technical field is encouraged to apply.

What You Will Do
The successful candidate will be trained to:
  • Perform calibration and verification of electronic measurement and speed- enforcement systems.
  • Operate calibration equipment and reference measurement instruments.
  • Carry out practical testing and measurement activities.
  • Assist with setup and testing of electronic systems at laboratory and field locations.
  • Record and analyze measurement results.
  • Prepare technical records, worksheets, and calibration documentation.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of electronic equipment.
  • Diagnose basic computer, communication, and networking problems.
  • Work with computers, electronic instruments, cables, interfaces, and communication systems.
  • Follow laboratory procedures, technical instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Support the Calibration Laboratory in maintaining accurate and traceable technical records.
  • Participate in technical training, competency assessments, and continuous improvement activities.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a technically minded person who is comfortable working with electronics and computers and who enjoys solving technical problems.

Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in: Electronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Basic understanding of electronics.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking.
  • Ability to understand technical instructions and manuals.
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn a specialized technical profession.
  • Ability to work in both laboratory and field environments.

The Following Will Be an Advantage
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic components and circuits.
  • Experience using multimeters or other test/measurement equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of Ethernet, IP addresses, USB, serial communication, or similar interfaces.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Experience with CCTV, ANPR, radar, LIDAR, telecommunications, security systems, instrumentation, or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with technical equipment or laboratory instruments.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 or laboratory quality systems.

Important: Previous Calibration Experience Is Not Required

You do not need previous experience in speed-enforcement calibration to apply.
