Role Purpose: 
The Baker is responsible for preparing and making a variety of bread and other baked goods in the Bakery section. The role holder is also responsible for serving customers while providing excellent customer service and executing tasks as per the section’s operating standards and hygiene control procedures. 
 
Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 
Baking Methods and Preparation Responsibilities 
  • Transform ingredients into finished and semi-finished products such as bread and other baked products, as per the production sheet and Bakery Section’s standard operating procedures. 
  • Prepare and place products in the display counter as per the defined guidelines. 
Customer Service Responsibilities
  • Assist customers in their product inquiries in a professional and timely manner, and provide excellent customer service at all times. 
  • Promote additional sales and maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements. 
Operating Standards and Hygiene Control Responsibilities 
  • Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices. 
  • Operate and sanitise all equipment safely and properly. 
  • Maintain hygiene standards and ensure that work areas, including the freezers and chillers, are kept clean and that food waste is disposed of correctly. 
Human Capital Responsibilities  
  • Proactively identify and seek professional development opportunities to improve leadership and technical skills pertaining to the direct line of work. 
  • Apply and follow MAFR’s Human Capital corporate policies and relevant procedures and instructions. 
  • Provide feedback to colleagues when required. 
Definition of Success  
  • Baking methods and techniques  
  • Proficiency in packing, wrapping and displaying products 
  • Level of customer service provided 

Qualification, Experience & Skills: 
Minimum Qualifications/Education 
  • Basic English language reading, writing, and interpretation skills 
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts  

Minimum experience 
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a similar role 

Skills 
  • Highly organised with strong multitasking skills 
  • Adapt in a multicultural environment 
  • Excellent listening abilities 
  • High attention to detail
