PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for maintaining service operations by inspecting, repairing, and replacing tyres on farm equipment, cars, and trucks, ensuring optimal performance and safety in line with operational requirements.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES UNIQUE TO THE ROLE
Responsibility and % Contribution to the job’s performance
1. Tire Maintenance and Installation
- Repair and install tyres on farm implements, light and heavy-duty vehicles, and trucks in line with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct tyre rotation, mounting, balancing, and alignment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. 30
2. Tire Inspection and Diagnosis
- Inspect tyres for tread wear, sidewall damage, uneven patterns, cracks, or embedded objects.
- Evaluate valve condition and air pressure levels; check for slow leaks or potential blowouts.
- Maintain accurate records of tyre condition, repairs, and replacements for each vehicle or machine. 20
3. Wheel Alignment and Balancing
- Perform wheel alignment and balancing to prevent premature wear and improve vehicle handling.
- Identify and correct alignment-related issues that may affect tyre performance or fuel efficiency. 20
4. Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Comply with all occupational health and safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work area at all times.15
- Follow company SOPs and safety checklists during all repair procedures.
5. Support and Miscellaneous Duties
- Assist with procurement of tire-related parts and materials when necessary.
- Provide support to the mechanical team during major vehicle or equipment maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with workshop operations. 15

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Vocational or technical training in automotive mechanics, vehicle maintenance, or a related field. Certification in tyre fitting, balancing, or alignment is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in tyre maintenance and repair in a busy mechanical or fleet environment
Experience working with both agricultural and commercial vehicles is desirable.
Business Understanding /Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and preventive maintenance
- Understanding of workshop safety and fleet operational procedures
- Familiarity with tyre types, brands, and their applications for agricultural and transport use
Languages English

WORK CONDITIONS
- Primarily field and workshop-based
