Quantity Surveyor
Job summary
To manage all cost and commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring effective cost control, value for money, and compliance with contractual and technical requirements from project inception through to final account.
Job descriptions & requirements
1. Prepare, review, and manage Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost estimates, and project budgets.
2. Conduct detailed cost planning, cost analysis, and forecasting for construction projects.
3. Advise management on cost control measures, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options.
4. Monitor project expenditure against budgets and report on cost variances.
5. Manage contracts in line with agreed contractual terms and conditions.
6. Carry out site measurements and prepare interim valuations and payment certificates.
7. Prepare progress reports, valuation reports, and final accounts.
8. Assess variations, claims, and change orders, ensuring accurate cost and contractual evaluation.
9. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
10. Ensure compliance with technical specifications, contractual obligations, and relevant industry standards.
11. Provide commercial and contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle.
12. Prepare regular cost reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
13. Ensure adherence to company procedures, contract requirements, and industry best practices.
14. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and developments in quantity surveying and cost consultancy.
15. Prepare tender documentation, including BoQs, specifications, and contract documents.
16. Participate in the tendering process, including bid evaluation, clarification, and negotiation with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
17. Provide commercial input during contractor selection and appointment.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Economics from a recognized institution
Work Experience
- Minimum of Two (2) years of working experience in construction and renovation projects
- Proficiency in
measurement, costing, and estimation software.
- Solid knowledge and proven experience in construction contracts, tendering procedures, and cost management principles.
