📢 JOB OPPORTUNITY – QUANTITY SURVEYOR

EURO FMCG LIMITED is seeking to recruit a highly competent and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team and support the successful delivery of our construction and development projects.

🏗️ POSITION: QUANTITY SURVEYOR


Duty Station: EURO FMCG Offices, Namataba, Mukono District, Uganda
Experience: 5–10 years of relevant professional experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline



🎯 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional quantity surveying and commercial management services across EURO FMCG projects, including:


Preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost estimates and project budgets.


Taking off quantities from architectural, structural, civil and MEP drawings.


Preparing tender documents, schedules of rates and pricing documents.


Reviewing and analysing contractor quotations and tender submissions.


Participating in tender evaluation, contractor selection and commercial negotiations.


Preparing interim valuations and assessing contractors’ payment applications.


Measuring completed works and verifying quantities on site.


Monitoring project costs against approved budgets and providing regular cost reports.


Managing variations, claims, extensions of time and other contractual matters.


Preparing and reviewing final accounts.


Conducting cost planning, cost control and value engineering throughout project implementation.


Monitoring material costs, labour costs and other project-related expenditures.


Carrying out site inspections to verify progress and completed works.


Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, project managers and other consultants.


Reviewing construction contracts and ensuring compliance with agreed commercial terms.


Maintaining accurate records of project costs, measurements, valuations, variations and payments.


Providing professional advice to management on project costs, financial risks and commercial decisions.


Supporting procurement and ensuring value for money in construction-related expenditure.


Preparing periodic commercial and cost reports for management.


Performing any other Quantity Surveying duties as assigned by management.



👤 PERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate should have:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline from a recognised institution.


5–10 years of proven practical experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within construction, industrial, commercial or large-scale development projects.


Strong practical knowledge of construction measurement, cost estimation, BoQ preparation and cost control.


Demonstrable experience in contractor valuation, variations, claims and final accounts.


Good understanding of construction contracts, tendering and procurement processes.


Strong ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil and MEP drawings.


Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.


Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and current market pricing.


Ability to conduct independent site measurements and verify completed works.


Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and relevant Quantity Surveying/measurement software.


Excellent report-writing, documentation and record-keeping skills.


Strong negotiation and commercial management skills.


Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, engineers, architects and internal teams.


High level of integrity, accuracy, accountability and attention to detail.


Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple project priorities.


Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
