Job Summary

The Quality Assurance and Control Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality. The position involves developing, implementing and maintaining functional strategies and a robust quality management system to monitor production processes, prevent defects and comply with ISO:9001-2025 and Good Manufacturing Practices. The engineer will focus on plastic core and critical processes like injection moulding, extrusion, etc, working closely with management and the manufacturing teams to minimise waste, optimise costs and exceed customer expectations while supporting sustainable and efficient manufacturing aligned with regional regulations.

Job Purpose:
The Quality Assurance and Control Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality. The position involves developing, implementing and maintaining functional strategies and a robust quality management system to monitor production processes, prevent defects and comply with ISO:9001-2025 and Good Manufacturing Practices. The engineer will focus on plastic core and critical processes like injection moulding, extrusion, etc, working closely with management and the manufacturing teams to minimise waste, optimise costs and exceed customer expectations while supporting sustainable and efficient manufacturing aligned with regional regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management Systems and Regulatory Compliance
  • Develop and implement functional strategies and plans that drive operational efficiency
  • Design and implement quality management systems (QMS) that integrate best practices for plastic production, including prevention, RCA and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure certification and compliance with ISO 9001:2025, GMP and UNBS requirements
  • Create and maintain quality assurance and control procedures, standards and processes
  • Drive continuous improvement through WCM programs
  • Monitor the Implementation of quality system procedures through regular internal quality audits to ensure Compliance and continuous improvement through the Eagle Way programme.
  • Ensure all time readiness for audit of the QMS by ensuring the highest Compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure complete, accurate and on-time submission of the annual Quality Verification program.
  • Review and analyse functional quality KPIs and data analysis to understand quality performance and identify improvement areas
  • Carry out scheduled supplier and distributor audits.
  • Stay updated on local and international regulations for plastic manufacturing, including environmental standards for waste management, material safety and risk mitigation.

Process Monitoring and Inspection
  • Oversee routine inspections of RM and FG through tools and visual checks.
  • Monitor the entire production cycle for abnormalities and perform process parameters to identify trends.
  • Ensure physical analysis of PM, inspection of RM and final products against specifications to determine Compliance and conformity to set quality standards and technical specifications, approved testing procedure and ensure release is done promptly.
  • Supervise the key product processes at the mixing stage, oversee the laboratory testing activities and supervise daily activities & deployments of the team.
  • Make sure all processes and products comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and customer specifications.

Defect Management and Resolution
  • Conduct root cause investigations for quality issues.
  • Collaborate with production and technical teams to halt defective output, implement corrective actions, and train staff on defect identification and prevention.
  • Develop, implement the Operational Pre-requisite Program and ensure that mitigation of consumer safety risks is timely managed.

Testing and Validation
  • Develop and execute testing protocols for plastic properties such as tensile strength, dimensional accuracy and colour consistency in line with industry standards.
  • Coordinate and manage all in trade quality conformance.
  • Coordinate and actively manage consumer and customer Complaints.
  • Co-ordinate the recall of products from customers in liaison with sales for business continuity.
  • Co-ordinate regular trade/ consumer quality perception surveys with sales and manage any issues arising to improve the company's Quality perception.
  • Fast-track the Inspection of returned goods for proper decision-making.

Deviation, Audits and Reporting
  • Lead internal and external quality audits, document findings and prepare reports on metrics such as defect rates, yield improvements and cost recoveries from processing.
  • Track key KPIs like scrap reduction, on-time quality approvals, Innovations, Safety observations, Market return regrind, etc.
  • Follow and monitor the timely closure of all change controls and deviations.
  • Follow-up, monitor and verify effective Implementation of CAPAs related to deviations, market complaints, recalls, and out-of-specifications.
  • Identify quality issues, perform RCA and work with production and development teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Analyse test results, document deviations, and prepare quality detailed reports for management

Innovations and Continuous Improvement
  • Analyse quality and production data to recommend process optimisations like cycle time reduction and support cost-effective material transformations to enhance profitability.
  • Drive and implement initiatives to enhance product, process quality and efficiency.
  • Develop research programs incorporating current developments to improve existing products and study the potential of new product development.
  • Oversee all aspects of the research program and experiments.
  • Manage trial or testing programs for products/services through the management of staff and assignment of staff, and utilisation of resources.
  • Perform product reviews, verification, and validation for new & existing products to ensure conformity for customer usage, market trends and required standards of quality.
  • Generate cost efficiency savings from material wastes, labour productivity and other operating expenses to support business objectives on continuous reduction in conversion cost.
  • Design a quality assurance program to drive safety, productivity, cost, asset optimisation, asset utilisation and reliability.

Training and Collaboration
  • Educate business teams on quality expectations, safety protocols and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement and R&D teams to refine processes and incorporate feedback in processes.
Financial Management
  • Monitor and ensure zero waste across the different manufacturing processes.
Risk Management
  • Identify the department’s risks, their various mitigations and keep track of them.
Compliance
  • Ensure regulatory Compliance regarding product certification.
  • Adherence to all SPS Policies and Procedures.


Minimum Qualification Requirements: Related Minimum Experience:
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical engineering, or any other related science discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Internal Quality Auditor certificate in QMS
  • Knowledge in SAP
  • Awareness in occupational health & safety
  • Any certification in lean manufacturing
  • Minimum 4-5 years relevant experience in the FMCG Industry, preferably in the quality department.

  • Knowledge in TPM, KAIZEN, ISO, EAGLEWAY, Six Sigma or any other operations excellence methodology.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
  • Frequency of travel: Occasional travel is required for meetings; location may vary and may require overnight stays.
  • Light physical activities and efforts are required while working in an office environment.
