Position Summary: This is a full-time position responsible for administering, maintaining, and expanding physiotherapy services in a private not-for-profit hospital in Masindi Municipality. The job holder designs, develops, and implements appropriate patient care protocols and procedures that comply with the most current accepted professional standards. Responsible for the direct provision of physiotherapy services and patient management.
Essential Job Functions:
KRA 1: Oversee the delivery of physiotherapy services to patients at Masindi-Kitara Hospital (MKH)
- Provide appropriate patient-centered care through proper evaluation and treatment.
- Employ relevant evaluation/assessment tools based on patients’ diagnoses.
- Utilize appropriate treatments to promote independence and safety in activities of daily living, mobility, and work/education.
- Participate in ward rounds to support the medical team in providing holistic patient-centered care.
- Provides support to the medical team by providing physiotherapy-based assessments of the patient’s physical conditions as requested.
- Provide the necessary patient education to patients and caregivers.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate patient progress, modifying treatment plans as needed, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Organise and conduct physiotherapy outreach services.
- Collaborate with medical personnel to create a sustainable referral system that ensures quality care for patients.
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic patient records reflecting the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient, diagnoses, and the care or treatment provided.
KRA 2: Operations and Coordination
- Manage business aspects such as supervising volunteers and support staff.
- Responsible for advising the hospital procurement committee on specifications for physiotherapy appliances and requisitioning for supplies/equipment.
- Ensuring that the equipment is secure, functional, and well maintained.
- Continued maintenance of appropriate resources and equipment for the unit.
- Compile and submit relevant periodic reports and participate in research as may be required.
KRA 3: Internal and External Marketing
- Conduct or participate in internal engagements to improve professional integration, interprofessional education and interprofessional collaboration with medical teams.
- Support marketing activities for the physiotherapy unit, spearhead development of business-to-business relationships and continuously make recommendations.
KRA 4: Adhere to Professional Education Standards.
- Deliver Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions for hospital staff regarding specific therapy services/conditions.
- Maintain professional knowledge to provide patients with treatment plans based on the best evidence.
- Obtain the CME credits required for continued license renewal.
- Adhere to the professional Code of Conduct at all times in the execution of his/her duties
