Job summary

IDI Uganda is recruiting an M&E Officer (HQ) to manage CFCT and other program data, track indicators and performance, ensure data quality, and prepare reports and dashboards. The role also supports surveys, assessments, research, and field data collection, working closely with Project Managers and field teams.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities


1. CFCT Program Data Management

  • Coordinate and maintain monitoring and data-management systems for the CFCT Program across relevant project locations.
  • Maintain and regularly update CFCT indicator trackers, beneficiary records, activity data, KPI trackers, and other monitoring databases.
  • Consolidate CFCT monitoring data submitted by field teams and Project Managers according to the reporting calendar.
  • Monitor progress against CFCT indicators, annual targets, program plans, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct first-level validation of CFCT data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Maintain traceability between reported CFCT results and supporting source documents.
  • Identify missing, inconsistent, or incomplete data and follow up with relevant field staff for clarification and correction.
  • Maintain a data-query log and track the resolution of identified data-quality issues.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual CFCT performance summaries, tables, and dashboards.
  • Support the documentation of CFCT results, achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and areas requiring follow-up.


2. Monitoring and Data Management Across Other Programs

  • Support monitoring and data collection for other IDI Uganda programs and projects as assigned.
  • Maintain and update indicator trackers according to approved project reporting calendars.
  • Consolidate monitoring information received from different project locations and program teams.
  • Conduct basic data cleaning, verification, and quality checks before data is used for reporting.
  • Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and ensure reported results can be traced back to source records.
  • Support preparation of monitoring summaries, dashboards, and program reports.
  • Escalate persistent data-quality issues and reporting delays to the supervisor.


3. Research, Surveys and Assessments

  • Support the design and implementation of surveys, assessments, studies, evaluations, and other research-related activities undertaken by IDI Uganda.
  • Support development and review of data-collection tools, questionnaires, interview guides, and monitoring forms.
  • Coordinate or participate in field data collection for research, baseline studies, needs assessments, evaluations, and other assigned studies.
  • Support training and orientation of data collectors or field staff when required.
  • Conduct first-level review, cleaning, organization, and consolidation of research datasets.
  • Support basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis and preparation of findings.
  • Assist in preparing research summaries, assessment reports, presentations, tables, and other evidence products.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of research data and supporting materials.


4. Data Quality, Verification and Follow-up

  • Conduct regular first-level validation of data submitted by project and field teams.
  • Maintain a data-query log documenting data issues, clarification requests, corrections, responsible persons, and resolution status.
  • Maintain clear traceability between reported results and source documents.
  • Conduct field verification visits to confirm reported information and supporting evidence.
  • Track follow-up actions arising from field verification and monitoring visits.
  • Follow up with responsible staff until agreed actions are completed.
  • Escalate repeated or unresolved data-quality issues, reporting delays, or significant discrepancies to the supervisor.


5. Performance Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance summaries and dashboards.
  • Compare actual program performance against indicators, targets, work plans, and reporting expectations.
  • Highlight major achievements, performance gaps, data-quality concerns, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Provide verified data and monitoring information for management review, donor reporting, planning, and decision-making.
  • Support preparation of annual reports, donor reports, project reviews, and other organizational reporting requirements.


Required Qualifications & Experience, Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Research, Information Management, Agriculture, Rural Development, or another relevant field.
  • Additional training in Monitoring & Evaluation, statistics, research methods, data management, or data analysis will be an added advantage.


Experience

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, program data management, research, statistics, project monitoring, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated practical experience managing program data, including indicator tracking, data validation, consolidation, reporting, and data-quality assurance.
  • Experience managing or consolidating data across multiple project sites or program locations is strongly preferred.
  • Practical experience in surveys, assessments, evaluations, research assignments, or other structured data-collection activities is required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with child-focused, community development, education, livelihoods, health, agriculture, or integrated development programs will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in an NGO, INGO, research institution, or development organization is preferred.


Key Competencies

  • Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts, indicators, KPIs, targets, outputs, outcomes, and results frameworks.
  • Strong ability to manage, organize, validate, and consolidate large volumes of program data.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other relevant data-management or analysis software.
  • Ability to maintain indicator trackers, databases, dashboards, and reporting calendars.
  • Ability to conduct first-level data validation and identify data-quality issues.
  • Ability to maintain clear traceability between reported results and source documentation.
  • Ability to support surveys, assessments, evaluations, and research-related data collection.
  • Basic ability to analyze and summarize quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple field teams and follow up on reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple reporting deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project locations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and responsibly manage beneficiary and participant data.
  • Willingness to respect and work within IDI Uganda’s Christian faith-based identity, values, and Code of Conduct.
