The Finance Officer will be responsible for ensuring full tax compliance, accurate financial reporting, and adherence to statutory and internal financial regulations. The role involves managing tax processes, supporting audits, and contributing to the overall accounting and financial reporting function.


Requirements


  • The applicant should at least hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance/ Business administration / Commerce or any other related field.
  • CPA Level 3 is an added advantage.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting and finance.
  • Strong adherence to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools and SAP knowledge is a Must.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with construction Companies is an added advantage.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible working hours.



  • Prepare and file periodic tax returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Income Tax).
  • Ensure proper verification of supporting documentation (receipts, contracts, bank statements) for all tax-related transactions.
  • Reconcile tax returns with general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive tax workpapers and supporting files for all tax positions taken by the company.
  • Investigate and explain variances between budgeted and actual tax payments.
  • Identify tax compliance risks, errors, or missing documentation and escalate them to management.
  • Summarize and review new tax laws, notifications, and rulings to assess their impact on company operations.
  • Coordinate and provide documentation for tax authority reviews and external audits.
  • Coordinate interim and final external audit processes, including preparation of audited financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all Mota-Engil Uganda financial policies, statutory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Support audit and tax inspections by organizing required evidence and documentation.
  • Participate in the full accounting and financial reporting cycle for Mota-Engil Uganda.
  • Prepare and support documentation required for submission to Group headquarters in Portugal.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor in line with job responsibilities.
