JOB SUMMARY:
The Economics and Geography Teacher plays a vital role in advancing the spiritual, academic, and personal development of students while contributing actively to the mission and values of Lead 4 Africa School Uganda Limited. The Economics and Geography Teacher is specifically responsible for delivering high-quality, learner-centered instruction in Economics and Geography, equipping students with a deep understanding of historical events, geographical concepts, and the interconnectedness of people, places, and environments.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Spiritual Leadership and Christian Formation
- Model Christian values, integrity, professionalism, and servant leadership in all interactions and responsibilities.
- Embody a high standard of personal Christian conduct through lifestyle and professional relationships.
- Participate actively in school worship programmes, Christian fellowships, devotions, and spiritual formation activities.
- Lead or support student devotions, assemblies, and other spiritual growth initiatives as assigned.
- Promote and uphold the school's culture of excellence, integrity, accountability, and transparency.
- Integrate biblical principles and Christian worldview into teaching and school life.
2. Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
- Develop comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with the prescribed curriculum and departmental guidelines.
- Deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons that promote critical thinking, creativity, and mastery of History and Geography content.
- Apply learner-centered and competence-based teaching approaches including inquiry-based learning, source analysis, debates, geographical investigations, and project-based learning.
- Integrate African, regional, and global historical and geographical perspectives to broaden students' understanding.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Design, administer, mark, and moderate assessments in accordance with school policies and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
- Assess learners through essays, projects, presentations, examinations, and practical geographical investigations.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, identify learning gaps, and implement appropriate intervention and remedial support programmes.
- Maintain current subject knowledge and integrate curriculum updates, emerging trends, and relevant learning resources into teaching practice.
- Promote high academic standards and encourage students to achieve their full potential.
- Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum review, and academic improvement initiatives.
3. Competency-Based Learning and Skills Development
- Develop learner competencies including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, citizenship, digital literacy, and environmental awareness.
- Encourage analysis of historical sources and events to develop analytical and interpretative skills.
- Promote geographical inquiry, map reading, data analysis, and spatial awareness.
- Foster understanding of contemporary issues, environmental sustainability, and responsible citizenship.
- Link learning to real-life and contemporary issues.
- Promote reflective thinking, moral discernment, and ethical reasoning.
4. Student Development, Pastoral Care, and Discipline
- Create and maintain a positive, respectful, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Promote positive student behaviour and apply fair, consistent, and effective classroom management strategies.
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and mentorship to students, supporting their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
- Build positive relationships with students and serve as a trusted and approachable role model.
- Participate in student orientation, integration, and transition programmes.
- Identify student welfare concerns and refer cases requiring specialized support through the appropriate safeguarding and student support structures.
- Support students in goal setting, leadership development, and character formation.
5. Administration and School Operations
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential records of student attendance, assessment results, academic progress, and behavioural concerns.
- Prepare and submit reports, grades, lesson documentation, and other records within established timelines.
- Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behaviour, and welfare.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, staff meetings, committees, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support the planning and implementation of school programmes, events, educational trips, exhibitions, competitions, and community engagement activities.
- Attend official school functions, professional meetings, workshops, seminars, and other assigned activities.
6. Co-Curricular and Community Engagement
- Participate actively in co-curricular programmes, Humanities-related clubs, sports, leadership activities, and student enrichment initiatives.
- Support and lead clubs such as History Club, Geography Club, Debate Club, Environmental Club, and Cultural Club.
- Organize and support events such as debates, essay competitions, geography exhibitions, educational tours, field trips, and community outreach activities.
- Support the development of students' talents, leadership skills, creativity, and character through extracurricular engagement.
- Contribute positively to the wider life, culture, and reputation of the school.
7. Professional Development
- Engage in continuous professional learning to strengthen subject knowledge, pedagogy, classroom practice, and educational leadership skills.
- Participate in professional development programmes organized by the school and other approved institutions.
- Remain informed about curriculum reforms, educational developments, and best practices in teaching and learning.
- Support the induction, mentoring, and professional growth of teaching assistants, trainee teachers, and newly appointed staff as required.
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, reflective practice, and professional excellence.
8. Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Uphold and comply with all child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, and student welfare policies of the school.

- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold the highest standards of child protection.
9. Additional Duties
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor/assignee from time to time, provided such assignments do not significantly distort the core operational responsibilities outlined herein.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts in Education with specialization in History and/or Geography, or a relevant Bachelor of Arts degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
- Specialization in History and/or Geography.
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in a secondary school or a similar educational setting.
- Must have attained a Distinction in History and/or Geography at O-Level, or a grade A or B at UACE in the corresponding subjects.
- Demonstrated competence in classroom teaching and student engagement.
- A mature and practicing Christian who models faith through character and lifestyle.
- Demonstrated commitment to Christian education and holistic student development.
- No criminal record and no history of child abuse, neglect, or misconduct.
- Willingness to work within a school and boarding environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a boarding school or faith-based school environment.
- Familiarity with competency-based education and curriculum frameworks.
- Training in child safeguarding or student support services.
- Experience supporting History Club, Geography Club, Debate Club, or environmental clubs.
- ICT proficiency for teaching, assessment, and reporting.
- Experience organizing educational tours, field trips, or geographical exhibitions.
