About the Kwanza Platform
The Kwanza platform encompasses two dynamic and distinct but interdependent entities, consisting of a new interdisciplinary advisory firm - KK Advisors LLP (also known as KK Advisors Africa) www.kkadvisors.africa , and an electricity infrastructure development company - Kwanza Infrastructure Group (KIG) www.kwanzaig.com . Both entities share offices in Kampala and operate collaboratively with the same teams.
About the Role:
The Business Development & Prospects Management Analyst role offers an opportunity for a results-driven, proactive, diligent and collaborative professional to support the strategic business growth of the Kwanza of the platform. The role focuses on identifying, nurturing and advancing business opportunities, while ensuring the effective management of existing prospects and partnerships across KK Advisors Africa and KIG. The role also involves legal compliance, research, negotiation ,document analysis, and assistance with the legal facets of project development and advisory services.
The Business Development & Prospects Management Analyst will play a key role in building and maintaining a structured pipeline of leads and opportunities, conducting market intelligence and supporting the preparation of high-quality EOIs, proposals and presentations. Working closely with teams, the analyst will help shape market strategy, track performance metrics, and provide insights that enhance the Platform’s competitive positioning and partnership management.

Responsibilities and Associated KPIs:
- Business Development Research & Opportunity Identification
Role: identifying and evaluating new business opportunities to drive organizational growth. Key responsibilities include conducting market research to pinpoint potential target markets and segments, identifying emerging trends and competitive developments, proactively pursuing new business leads through various channels, conducting in-depth research on opportunities to inform proposal development, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data used in business development efforts. The role will also require identification of potential partners for bid and proposal preparation.
- KPI 1: New Opportunity Identification: Number of qualified new business opportunities (meeting predefined criteria) identified and documented per quarter (Target: 5 qualified opportunities per quarter).
- KPI 2: Market Research Deliverables: Completion and delivery of at least two comprehensive market research reports or presentations identifying target markets and emerging trends per year (Target: 2 reports/presentations per year).
- KPI 3: Lead Generation Activities: Number of proactive lead generation activities undertaken per month (e.g., cold calls, networking events attended, initial outreach emails sent) (Target: 15 activities per month).
- KPI 4: Proposal Data Accuracy: Percentage of proposal data elements reviewed and confirmed to be accurate and consistent prior to proposal submission (Target: 98% accuracy per proposal).
- KPI 5: Actionable Insights Contribution: Number of documented and communicated actionable market insights or competitive intelligence that directly inform business development strategies or proposal development (Target: 3 actionable insights per quarter).
- Business Development Support
Role: supports the Business Development team in achieving platform goals by assisting in the creation and execution of business development strategies. Key responsibilities include contributing to the development of proposals, EOIs, presentations, and marketing materials; collaborating with internal teams (technical, finance) to ensure compelling and accurate content; managing proposal timelines and deliverables; reviewing and editing proposal documents for quality; facilitating information flow across teams; and supporting the development of branding and visual elements for business development efforts.
- KPI 1: Proposal Submission Timeliness: Percentage of assigned proposal components and overall proposals completed and submitted by the internal and external deadlines (Target: 95% per quarter)
- KPI 2: Proposal Quality Score (Internal Review): Average score (based on a predefined rubric) of proposal drafts and final versions after internal review, focusing on accuracy, consistency, and adherence to guidelines (Target: 80% average score per quarter).
- KPI 3: Collaboration Effectiveness (Team Feedback): Average rating (on a scale of 1-5) from technical and finance team members regarding the effectiveness of collaboration and communication during the proposal development process (Target: 4/5 average per quarter).
- KPI 4: Branding Guideline Adherence: Percentage of marketing materials and proposal visuals developed that fully comply with established branding guidelines
- KPI 5: Proposal Process Efficiency: Average cycle time (in days) for the completion of assigned proposal tasks (Target: Reduction of 10% in average cycle time year-over-year).
- Project & Transaction Support:
Role: Assist with due diligence processes related to infrastructure projects; Support the negotiation of contracts and agreements; Provide support in matters related to project finance; Contribute to the development and implementation of business development strategies.
- KPI 1: Due Diligence Support: Due diligence checklists are completed accurately and on time for 100% of assigned projects, with findings clearly summarised.
- KPI 2: Contract Negotiation Support: Conduct contract negotiations (e.g., drafting support, research) are rated as "effective" or "highly effective" in 80% of post-negotiation reviews.
- KPI 3: Business development (BD)Strategy Contribution: Provide valuable input and support in the development and implementation of BD strategies, as evidenced by documented contributions and feedback from project debriefs. (This KPI will be more qualitative, assessed quarterly)
- Role: Records Management Specialist
This role is responsible for the systematic management of organisational records, ensuring their accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with relevant policies and standards. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive records management plan, establishing and maintaining a robust filing and retrieval system, enforcing document control procedures, coordinating the collection and organization of information from various teams, and conducting regular audits to verify record integrity.
- KPI 1: Records Management Plan Implementation: Percentage completion of key milestones in the records management plan within the defined time frame (Target: 95% completion per year).
- KPI 2: Record Retrieval Efficiency: Average time (in minutes) to retrieve a specific record from the filing system upon request (Target: Average retrieval time of 5 minutes or less per quarter).
- KPI 3: Document Control Compliance: Percentage of records adhering to established document control procedures, internal policies, and industry standards, as determined by audits (Target: 98% compliance per audit).
- KPI 4: Audit Findings: Number of non-compliance findings identified during record audits (Target: Less than 5 non-compliance findings per audit).
- KPI 5: Contract /License/Permit Renewals: Ensure that 100% of license and permit renewals are initiated and tracked, with applications submitted at least 30 days before expiration dates.
- Communication & Monitoring:
- Role: Monitor and track changes in relevant legislation and regulations; Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to supervisor and other stakeholders.
- KPI 1: Legislative Updates: Key changes in relevant legislation and regulations are identified, summarised, and communicated within 5 business days of official publication 100% of the time.
- KPI 2: Communication Clarity: Findings and recommendations are communicated in a clear, concise, and understandable manner, as evidenced by positive feedback from supervisor and other stakeholders (measured through surveys or feedback forms). (qualitative, assessed quarterly)
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, procurement or a related field
- Minimum of (02) year’s experience in business development.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using productivity tools and office software.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
