Stock/Inventory Manager
Job summary
The Stock Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end inventory and warehouse function for the company's distribution business from stock planning and procurement coordination to warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and team leadership. The role ensures optimal stock availability while minimizing holding costs, losses.

Inventory Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement inventory management policies, procedures, and controls
- Forecast stock requirements based on sales trends, seasonality, and demand planning input
- Set and monitor reorder levels, safety stock, and lead times by SKU/category
- Identify and action slow-moving, excess, and obsolete stock (discounting, write-offs, redistribution)
Warehouse & Operations Management
- Oversee all warehouse operations — receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
- Ensure efficient warehouse layout and space utilization
- Implement and enforce FIFO/FEFO and proper handling procedures (especially for imported electronics)
- Manage relationships with logistics/freight providers for inbound shipments and landed cost efficiency
Stock Accuracy & Reconciliation
- Oversee physical stock counts, cycle counts, and full annual stocktakes
- Investigate significant variances, shrinkage, and damages; implement corrective actions
- Ensure inventory system (ERP) data integrity and work with IT/finance to resolve system issues
- Own inventory valuation accuracy and support landed cost and gross margin reporting with Finance
Team Leadership
- Supervise and develop the Stock Controller(s) and warehouse/store staff
- Set performance targets (accuracy rates, stock-outs, turnaround times) and manage team performance
- Train staff on inventory procedures, systems, and safety practices
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Procurement to align purchasing with actual demand and avoid overstocking/stockouts
- Partner with Sales to ensure stock availability for key accounts and prevent lost sales
- Liaise with Finance on inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and audit requirements
- Support management with inventory KPIs and reporting (stock turnover, days of stock, fill rate, shrinkage %)
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with company policies, import documentation requirements, and any regulatory standards
- Implement security and loss-prevention measures across warehouse locations
- Ensure audit readiness — maintain documentation trail for all stock movements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
- 3-5+ years' experience in inventory/warehouse management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role
- Experience in distribution, FMCG, or import/electronics trading strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/inventory systems (SAP, Zoho, QuickBooks, Tally, or similar)
- Proven people management and leadership skills
- Strong analytical skills — comfortable working with stock KPIs, margin analysis, and demand forecasting
- Experience with landed cost accounting and import logistics is an advantage
