Operations Production Manager

The Operations Production Manager will supervise and coordinate the day-to-day production of polythene bags, ensuring efficient production processes, consistent product quality, proper machine operation, achievement of production targets, and effective management of the production team.

- Supervise daily production activities across the polythene bag manufacturing process.
- Plan and allocate production tasks to operators and production staff to achieve daily and monthly production targets.
- Monitor the production process, including film extrusion, printing, bag cutting, sealing, and packaging, where applicable.
- Ensure machines and production equipment are operated correctly, safely, and efficiently.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure polythene bags meet required specifications, including thickness, dimensions, strength, sealing quality, printing quality, and overall appearance.
- Identify and address production defects, wastage, machine-related issues, and quality inconsistencies.
- Monitor raw material usage and minimize production waste and material losses.
- Maintain accurate production records, including output, downtime, wastage, rejects, and quality issues.
- Supervise, coach, and train machine operators and other production staff on production procedures, quality standards, safety requirements, and proper machine handling.
- Conduct team briefings and provide guidance on daily production priorities and performance expectations.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to report and follow up on machine breakdowns and technical issues.
- Monitor staff attendance, discipline, productivity, and adherence to production procedures.
- Recommend improvements to production processes to increase efficiency, reduce wastage, and improve product quality.
- Prepare regular production reports and communicate production performance, challenges, and recommendations to management.
- 3+ years of direct experience in a Production Supervisory role within a polythene/plastic bag manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience supervising polythene bag production processes.
- Practical experience in quality inspection and assessment of polythene bags.
- Proven experience supervising, coaching, and training production teams.
- Experience monitoring production targets, wastage, rejects, downtime, and overall production efficiency.
- Good understanding of plastic manufacturing machinery and production processes, particularly film extrusion and polythene bag conversion.
- Experience identifying production defects and implementing corrective actions.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Technology, or a related field.
- Additional training in quality management, occupational safety, or production management is an added advantage.
- Strong production supervision and team leadership skills.
- Excellent understanding of polythene/plastic manufacturing processes.
