Children in Need (CHIN) in peri-urban Mukono, central Uganda, is a community-based organisation implementing a multi-sector development programme with a focus on inclusive health, inclusive education, climate-resilient livelihoods and justice and human rights, all in support of children and youth with disabilities, their parents, unemployed youth, and vulnerable women.
The Sisters are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to do Logistics and Procurement under the SSHJM CHIN Finance Department and further the organization's mission.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Procurement and Logistics Officer will ensure timely, efficient, and transparent procurement and logistics support for the program. This includes managing procurement processes, inventory, supplier relationships, and logistics for field activities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
· Procurement
v Manage procurement of goods and services in line with organizational and donor procurement policies.
v Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs), bid evaluations, and purchase orders.
v Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including vendor databases and procurement trackers.
v Coordinate with the finance department for timely payments to vendors.
· Logistics and Fleet
v Manage logistical arrangements for field activities (transport/vehicle movements, accommodation, venue bookings, etc).
v Maintain up-to-date inventory records of all assets and supplies under the projects.
v Ensure proper storage, labelling, and distribution of project materials to field sites.
v Track asset usage and facilitate regular inventory audits.
· Compliance and Reporting
v Ensure procurement practices comply with SSHJM- WACFO and donor regulations.
v Support audits and provide procurement-related documentation as needed.
v Prepare monthly procurement and logistics reports.
· Coordination
v Liaise with field staff and other departments to forecast procurement and logistics needs.
v Develop procurement plans aligned with the project workplans and budgets.
v Support emergency procurement needs in coordination with heads of departments.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
· Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CILT) is an added advantage.
· At least 3 years of relevant work experience in procurement and logistics, preferably with an NGO or development organization.
· Demonstrated experience in donor-funded project procurement.
· Sound knowledge of procurement principles, inventory management, and supply chain best practices.
· Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software/tools.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Knowledge of local market systems and supplier networks.

Gross salary range: 1,000,000 to 1,200,000 UGX
