Job Summary:
The Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, perform detailed project costing, and ensure financial efficiency. The role will support the Finance Manager by anticipating costs, providing reliable data for strategic decision-making, and optimising resource allocation. This Accountant will ensure that all projects are costed accurately, expenses are tracked properly, and operational finance functions run efficiently.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Project Costing & Analysis:
- Prepare accurate costing for all projects, including raw materials, labour, and operational overheads.
- Anticipate project costs, flag potential budget overruns, and recommend cost-efficient alternatives.
- Provide detailed cost-benefit analysis for campaigns and projects to support management decisions.
- Monitor ongoing project expenses vs planned budget and report variances.
Financial Recording & Reporting:
- Maintain full accounting records and reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and ledgers daily.
- Prepare timely financial reports, including project cost reports, for Finance Manager review.
- Track departmental and operational expenses, highlighting anomalies or risks.
Operational Oversight:
- Supervise AR/AP Assistants to ensure timely invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
- Verify all transactions comply with internal controls and company policies.
- Support preparation of payment proposals, payroll, and procurement requests for MD approval.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in project costing or financial analysis.
- Experience in branding, advertising, or media industries is highly desirable.
- Experience in Construction is highly desirable
Technical Skills:
- Strong accounting knowledge and advanced Excel skills for costing, analysis, and reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
Analytical & Business Acumen:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to anticipate costs and recommend efficient solutions.
- Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for projects and operations.
Leadership & Communication:
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior finance staff.
- Clear communication of financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
