Role-based in Kampala, Uganda 

Start date: Immediate

Our platform is carefully designed to meet the needs of African consumers as a one-stop shop for transportation, payments, and on-demand services. While motorcycle taxis serve as the lifeblood of many cities in Africa, they are extremely unsafe and disorganized. Our safe, convenient, transportation platform provides for Africa’s booming young population as well as creates community and stability for our rider fleet. Our payments and on-demand services empower our users to transfer money, pay bills, and deliver packages instantly from the comfort of their homes. 

Operational in Uganda, we are a venture-funded Series B company that is already having a huge impact on millions of people in Africa. Our backers include Google, Unbound, GoVentures (GoJek’s VC), AllianzX, Yamaha, and Beenext, among others. We have a passionate and highly engaged team of superstars based in East Africa. Together, we aim to revolutionize transport and payment delivery in Africa’s cities. 


Job Summary: 

As the VP of Marketing, you will be at the helm of our marketing team, steering the company towards impressive growth and brand development. Your role will be pivotal in scaling our services while focusing on customer acquisition, retention, and resurrection. 


Key Responsibilities: 

1. Strategic Leadership: Craft and guide strategies that reflect the company's values; encourage innovative ideas and contribute to the company's broader strategy. 

2. Team Management: Develop team skills and foster a collaborative working environment. 

3. Data Analysis: Lead in understanding market trends and customer needs to inform business strategies. 

4. Customer Acquisition, Retention, & Resurrection: Create targeted marketing campaigns based on customer segments while establishing a continuous feedback loop to understand their needs. 

5. Brand Development: Shape the company's story and safeguard our reputation. 

6. Collaboration & Partnerships: Facilitate cooperation across departments and build beneficial external partnerships. 

7. Budget Management: Manage budgets with a keen eye on ROI, balancing CAC and LTV effectively.

8. Product Marketing: Strong understanding of facilitating go-to-market strategy for various products. 


What we are looking for: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field 
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in marketing with a proven track record of success 
  • Experience in a marketplace or transportation industry will be an added advantage 
  • Experience in growth hacking, digital customer acquisition strategies 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills 
  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills 
  • Laser-focused on growth and results-oriented 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for understanding and serving customers 
  • Ability to challenge existing thinking and bring fresh perspectives
