Job Summary

The manager manages all aspects of audit & assurance assignments. They maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and clients, ensure all work allocated is carried out profitably and on a timely basis per the firm’s standards, meeting the engagement partner’s expectations and client satisfaction.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Result Areas


Growth & Profitability 

  • Generate new business opportunities by identifying and promoting firm services that add value to clients.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to grow the firm's client base and enhance revenue.
  • Manage billing processes for completed engagements and oversee the timely recovery of outstanding audit fees.
  • Monitor and address issues related to billing and collections to improve financial efficiency.


Leadership / Employee Excellence & Company Relationships

  • Lead audit teams, ensuring timely and high-quality work delivery.
  • Establish key audit objectives, review audit programs, and guide teams in obtaining appropriate audit evidence.
  • Review audit working papers, financial statements, and management letters in line with firm and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and mentor staff for professional growth.
  • Identify training needs and recommend or provide suitable development opportunities.
  • Promote teamwork, empower staff, and ensure performance objectives align with firm standards.
  • Actively participate in recruitment, training, and other strategic initiatives.


Market Focus / Client Centricity

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Conduct annual client reassessments and provide strategic insights to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of clients, ensuring engagement quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify early warning signals related to client issues and provide proactive solutions.
  • Draft and present key engagement documents to clients while ensuring professional communication.
  • Identify business growth opportunities through client relationships and referrals.


Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee multiple audits concurrently, ensuring they are completed within scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Ensure effective audit planning, execution, and closure, adhering to best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve audit procedures and engagement economics.
  • Utilize technology to enhance efficiency, knowledge-sharing, and audit quality.
  • Ensure compliance with firm risk management policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Draft engagement reports and communicate audit findings to management and governance bodies.
  • Apply knowledge of audit, accounting, and financial reporting standards to ensure regulatory compliance.


Quality, Risk, and Compliance:

  • Maintain a high level of audit quality by ensuring compliance with the firm’s audit methodology and industry regulations.
  • Identify and escalate ethical, independence, and conflict-of-interest issues as required.
  • Ensure engagement teams adhere to risk management and professional standards.
  • Identify and report key audit issues in management letters and client communications.
  • Ensure the completion of sign-off and checklist procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and evolving audit standards to maintain compliance and service excellence.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of work experience in audit
  • Relevant professional level membership such as CPA /ACCA
  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing teams
  • Experience with internal controls review 
  • Managing client relationships 
  • Performing financial statement audits.
  • Proficiency in English and French is essential. Kirundi language skills are desirable.

  • Proficiency in auditing software and tools 
  • Understanding of Burundian accounting standards and regulations
