Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role is crucial in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and assisting with claims-related financial processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in bookkeeping, an eye for detail, and an interest in the insurance/financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Records
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and issue invoices, credit notes, and payment reminders.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier statements, and ledger accounts.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial filing systems (digital and physical).

Claims Financial Administration
  • Assist in processing claim-related payments and expense reimbursements.
  • Verify and record adjuster expense reports and supplier invoices related to claims.
  • Support the finance team in preparing loss assessment financial summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and insurance industry regulations.

Reporting & Support
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, including profit & loss and balance sheet summaries.
  • Support year-end audit processes by providing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with adjusters and administrative staff to resolve billing or payment queries.
  • Help maintain the company’s accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and suggest process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred
  • Previous experience in insurance, financial services, or a professional services firm.
  • Familiarity with insurance claims processes or loss adjusting terminology.
  • Part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) or actively pursuing certification.

Soft Skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative and helpful attitude.
  • Adaptable and able to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
