Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role is crucial in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and assisting with claims-related financial processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in bookkeeping, an eye for detail, and an interest in the insurance/financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and issue invoices, credit notes, and payment reminders.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier statements, and ledger accounts.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial filing systems (digital and physical).
- Assist in processing claim-related payments and expense reimbursements.
- Verify and record adjuster expense reports and supplier invoices related to claims.
- Support the finance team in preparing loss assessment financial summaries.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and insurance industry regulations.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, including profit & loss and balance sheet summaries.
- Support year-end audit processes by providing requested documentation and explanations.
- Collaborate with adjusters and administrative staff to resolve billing or payment queries.
- Help maintain the company’s accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and suggest process improvements.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Previous experience in insurance, financial services, or a professional services firm.
- Familiarity with insurance claims processes or loss adjusting terminology.
- Part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) or actively pursuing certification.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with a collaborative and helpful attitude.
- Adaptable and able to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
