Purpose/Job summary:
The Kira Farm Cook is responsible for the overall management of the kitchen site. He organises, plans, prepares, cooks and serves a variety of foods in the trainees and staff food program. He typically works in a fast-paced environment that may require working early morning hours. He may be required to lift heavy containers and stand for long periods.
He/she is responsible for preparing 3 meals a day for at least 70 people daily, and must ensure that food safety standards are upheld.
Key Responsibilities.
1. Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare a variety of hot meals, ensuring they meet nutritional guidelines. This includes cooking and serving food in large quantities.
2. Inventory Management: Maintains and tracks inventory of all food items and supplies for the kitchen site daily. - Responsible for requesting and recording food supplies
3. Supervision and Training: Train, supervise and work alongside any assistants in food preparation
4. Sanitation and Safety: Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, including cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils regularly. - Ensure storage of food items to prevent spoilage and rotate stock regularly.
5. Communication: Act as a point of contact and communicate with the administration regarding kitchen needs and operations.
6. Coordination with staff to integrate food from the farm into the kitchen menus and keep a record of this.
Carry out any other duties that are within the scope of this post, which could be requested by Amigos, your head of department, including the country director.

Physical Make-up:
Female or Male, 28 years and above, preferably male
Attainments:
High school or equivalent 4 – 7 years’ experience in school kitchens, Certificate in catering or related training.
Experience in a school
General Intelligence:
Methods of preparing, cooking and serving food in large quantities. Sanitation and safety procedures related to serving food. Ability to prepare a vast array of dishes.Time management
Ability to communicate in English.
