Job summary
The Income Generation Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on agriculture-based livelihoods and revolving fund activities within the project area. The officer will support farmers, producer groups, cooperatives, and other community structures to improve agricultural production, enterprise development, access to finance, and sustainable income generation.

- Plan, coordinate, and implement agricultural livelihood activities in accordance with the approved annual Plan of Action.
- Promote adoption of good agribusiness practices, value addition, and market-oriented service delivery for producer groups and cooperatives through Farmer Field Schools, demonstrations, and peer-learning approaches
- Facilitate coaching, mentoring, and peer learning for both farmer groups and beneficiaries to strengthen business skills, employability, and income generation.
- Support development of business plans, access to finance, and linkages to MFIs, savings groups, and employment opportunities for both farmer groups and beneficiaries.
- Coordinate delivery of Post-Harvest Handling and Storage (PHHS), commodity standards training, conservation agriculture demonstrations, and other technical trainings linked to project outcomes
- Work closely with the Procurement Unit to support sourcing and distribution of starter kits, tools, and equipment for agribusiness and vocational activities.
- Monitor performance and progress of farmer groups and beneficiaries, documenting results related to skills acquisition, income generation, and job creation.
- Identify and promote profitable agricultural value chains within the project area and facilitate market linkages between farmers, traders, processors, input suppliers, and buyers.
- Facilitate community sensitization on revolving fund objectives, procedures, responsibilities, and sustainability mechanisms.
- Develop and maintain beneficiary revolving fund records, repayment schedules, and revolving fund databases.
- Monitor utilization of revolving fund resources to ensure investments are used for approved agricultural and livelihood enterprises.
- Track loan repayments and maintain accurate records of fund performance, providing periodic revolving fund performance reports and analyses.
- Prepare regular technical reports, case studies, success stories, and progress updates to support reporting and learning.
- Maintain close collaboration with local government authorities, private sector actors, and training institutions
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor income generation activities, provide technical guidance, and submit reports to the Income Generation Manager.
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, crop science, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, or any related field from a recognized University.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in agriculture, livelihoods, food security, or rural development programs.
- Experience managing or supporting community revolving funds, community saving groups, community financing schemes, or enterprise development programs.
- Demonstrated experience working with farmer groups, cooperatives, and community-based organizations.
- Experience working with NGOs, development agencies, or donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of crop and livestock production systems.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and training skills.
- Excellent report-writing with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently in rural communities with minimal supervision.
- Full working knowledge of English and Ateso / Lugwere languages.
- Valid motorcycle riding permit and ability to ride in field conditions are added advantages.
