Job summary
The Digital OOH IT Technician is responsible for the technical operation, monitoring, and first- and second-level support of Vacker’s Digital Out-of-Home screen network. The role focuses on system uptime, fault resolution, hardware and software support, and the technical integrity of all digital screens to ensure uninterrupted campaign delivery.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Monitor digital screens for uptime, system health, and content playback accuracy.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults related to hardware, software, connectivity, power, and operating systems.
- Perform first and second-level troubleshooting on digital signage players, screens, routers, and controllers.
- Escalate complex or vendor-related issues appropriately while tracking resolution.
- Install, configure, and commission digital screens, media players, routers, and supporting systems.
- Configure CMS access, network settings, screen orientation, brightness, and playback parameters.
- Test systems before go-live and confirm stable performance post-installation.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on digital assets to minimise downtime.
- Replace faulty components and perform minor repairs where applicable.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, and technical documentation.
- Support connectivity using fibre, LTE, routers, and local networks.
- Troubleshoot network interruptions, bandwidth issues, and device connectivity failures.
- Support power solutions including UPS, stabilisers, and backup systems.
- Log incidents, faults, resolutions, and downtime accurately.
- Maintain an up-to-date digital asset register, including configurations and warranty status.
- Provide technical reports and uptime data to the Head of Digital OOH.
- Support content deployment from a technical perspective (format compatibility, playback reliability).
- Verify proof-of-play from a system integrity standpoint.
- Support emergency interventions to restore service during live campaigns.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field
- Technical certifications (Networking, Hardware, Digital Signage systems) are an added advantage
- 2–4 years’ experience in IT support, network support, digital systems, or broadcast technology
- Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting and field-based technical work
- Strong understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and peripherals
- Knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, routers, modems, LTE/fibre)
- Experience with digital signage systems, CMS platforms, or media players is an advantage
- Ability to work with power systems and basic electrical components
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- High reliability and responsiveness
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Clear documentation and escalation discipline
