Clinical Nurse Mentor - Helping Babies Survive & Helping Mothers Survive (HBS/HMS) Training 
Location: Nairobi, Kenya 
Employer: The Gould Family Foundation (GFF) 
Reports to: Manager Clinical Training Program 

Role 
To train midwives, nurses, doctors, and clinical officers on the Helping Babies Survive and Helping Mothers Survive protocols from JHPIEGO and the American Academy of Pediatrics. This training prevents, detects, and helps manage life-threatening complications during childbirth and the immediate postpartum period, thereby reducing maternal and newborn mortality rates. 

Key Responsibilities 
1. Training Delivery: Conduct in-person training sessions on the Helping Babies Survive and Helping Mothers Survive protocols using simulation-based learning, low-dose high- frequency (LDHF) methods, and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)  assessments. 
2. Organize and schedule team-based learning programs for GFF partners' maternal and newborn care teams. 
3. Perform timely pre- and post-training assessments using GFF HBS/HMS assessment tools.  Perform remedial training for those trainees not achieving the GFF 90% proficiency objective. 
4. Implementation Support: Plan and execute HBS/HMS projects at GFF partner sites, including scheduling, logistics, and on-site training preparation. 
5. Demonstrate proper use of neonatal and maternal simulators and other devices (e.g.,  Ambubags, suction devices). 
6. Monitor post-training performance through observation of skills in the maternity and  NICU departments. 
7. Share best practices and lessons learned. 
8. Identify and train prospective Master Trainers for the HBS/HMS protocols. 


Required Skills & Qualifications 
Education: Medical or nursing degree; advanced training in maternal and newborn health. 
Experience: Proven experience in clinical training and simulation-based education of maternal/newborn health programs. Prior experience in training the Helping Babies Survive and Helping Mothers Survive Protocols is a strong positive. 
Skills: Strong organization, communication, and leadership abilities; proficiency in simulation- based learning; ability to work in resource-limited settings.
