1. Key Responsibilities
Your assistant will likely need to balance several dynamic roles across your five service areas:
- Inventory & Equipment Prep: Organizing and maintaining tools for plumbing, electrical, and metal fabrication. Mixing and preparing safe chemicals for fumigation.
- On-Site Support: Assisting technicians on calls—such as carrying tools, holding ladders, laying out wires/pipes, and staging materials.
- Workshop Cleanliness: Ensuring the workspace is hazard-free, managing waste disposal, and sweeping/sanitizing (ties in with your cleaning service).
- Metalwork Assistance: Helping the fabricator by deburring metal edges, grinding, operating simple machinery, and moving heavy materials.
2. Ideal Candidate Profile
- Basic Technical Literacy: A foundational understanding of electrical safety and plumbing fittings is a huge plus.
- Physical Stamina: The role involves heavy lifting, moving equipment, and standing for long periods.
- Reliability & Trustworthiness: They will be handling valuable tools and, in the case of fumigation, hazardous materials.
- Vocational Background: Look for graduates from local Ugandan technical institutes or individuals with prior hands-on apprenticeship experience.
