Job Title: Senior Accountant – Manufacturing Sector
Location: Uganda
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Finance Manager / Head of Finance
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accounting operations specific to manufacturing activities, including cost accounting, raw material and inventory tracking, and financial reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze and monitor standard costs versus actual costs; investigate and explain variances.
- Maintain and oversee accurate records of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, especially related to production and cost of goods sold.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely submission of required financial data.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strong internal controls.
- Work closely with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to ensure financial data aligns with operational activity.
- Monitor payroll and statutory deductions to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or ACCA certification is an added advantage).
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Ugandan accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory compliance.
- Strong understanding of costing methods, inventory control, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Tally, etc.).
- Advanced MS Excel skills and data analysis capability.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with FMCG or high-volume
production industries.
Familiarity with East African financial reporting and regional compliance. - Strong organizational and communication skills.
