Position Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for conducting site measurements, preparing material estimates and quotations, monitoring project costs, and supervising furniture installation and production activities on-site. The role will ensure accurate costing, efficient use of materials, adherence to quality standards, and successful project delivery. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between clients, the production team, and installation crews by ensuring all measurements, specifications, budgets, and timelines are accurately managed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Measurement and Assessment
● Conduct site visits to take accurate measurements for furniture manufacturing, installations, and fit-out projects.
● Assess site conditions and identify factors that may affect design, production, or installation.
● Prepare measurement reports, sketches, and technical documentation.
● Verify dimensions and specifications before commencement of production.
2. Cost Estimation and Quantity Surveying
● Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for furniture and interior projects.
● Develop detailed material take-offs and cost estimates.
● Prepare quotations and cost proposals for clients.
● Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
● Recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
● Track material consumption and wastage levels.
3. Production Coordination
● Work closely with designers and production teams to ensure measurements and specifications are accurately interpreted.
● Support production planning through accurate forecasting of material requirements.
● Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management.
● Verify that production outputs align with approved designs and client requirements.
4. Site Supervision and Installation Oversight
● Supervise furniture installation activities on client sites.
● Ensure installations comply with approved specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
● Coordinate installation teams and subcontractors where necessary.
● Resolve site-related technical issues during installation.
● Conduct quality inspections before project handover.
5. Project Monitoring and Reporting
● Prepare project progress reports and site inspection reports.
● Monitor timelines and identify risks that may affect project completion.
● Maintain records of measurements, estimates, variations, and project documentation.
● Support project close-out and final account preparation.
6. Skills Training Support
● Assist in demonstrating measurement, costing, and project supervision practices to trainees.
● Support practical learning activities related to furniture production and project management.
● Mentor trainees during site visits and project assignments.
● Contribute to the development of practical training materials where required.
Qualifications
Education
● Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Interior Design, Wood Technology, or a related field.
Experience
● Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in quantity surveying, project supervision, furniture manufacturing, interior fit-outs, or construction projects.
● Experience conducting site measurements and preparing BOQs.
● Experience supervising installation teams is highly desirable.

● Knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes and materials.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

● Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design software is an advantage.
