PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The job purpose of a machine operator is to set up, operate, and maintain machinery to produce high-quality results efficiently and safely.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES UNIQUE TO THE ROLE
Responsibility and % Contribution to the job’s performance
1. Operating machines
- Operating machines and their equipment under good mechanical condition while ensuring good quality work.
- Recording the inputs used for future reference.
- Reporting any minor & major breakdowns, accidents, and damages to any machine components. 30%
2. Preventive maintenance
- Doing daily checklists on their machines together with the supervisors.
- Inspection of machine sound and communicating with the mechanics about the anomalies.
- Doing 50h service and alerting the team of mechanics when the 250h service is due. 20%
3. Corrective maintenance
- Communicate to the mechanics how the issue started to enable proper troubleshooting.
- Support mechanics in conducting corrective maintenance both in and off- season, and work to improve these processes.
- Signing off any repair works done as an asset owner and confirming that the work is done well and up to standard. 20%
4. Machine cleaning
- Cleaning machines with the jet washer for proper identification of leakages and other faults while ensuring that the machines are clean and free from other materials that can cause damages such as tools and other machine consumables. 10%
5. Reporting faults
- Reporting faults as quickly as possible, as soon as they are identified , including sharing error codes. 10%
6. Mentorship
- Mentor and train juniors in operating skills and minor mechanical repairs 5%
7. Perform any other duties assigned from time to time. 5%

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: A valid operating license
Experience: Two years of experience in a similar or related field
Business Understanding / Knowledge
Ability to operate a range of agricultural machinery & equipment which may include tillage, planters, sprayers, combines and spreading equipment.
Languages: English and Kiswahili

WORK CONDITIONS
