Job Description/Requirements

The International Accounting Manager reports to the Director, Finance & Contracts and provides oversight and management for the firm-wide finance and accounting function. The Manager has a demonstrated track record of technical and management experience, a customer service orientation and is able to work independently across our global teams. This is a global position, open to candidates in any location.


General Accounting Management

  • Support and monitor cash flow management activities for all entities
  • Review and approve accounts payables vouchers weekly in payment processing system. Process accounts payables payments and oversee that confirmations are submitted to vendors as appropriate
  • Act as backup for reviewing and approving accounts receivables submissions from program finance team.
  • Oversee, review, and approve the recording of accounting activities (vouchers, journal entries, cash receipts, allocations) in appropriate systems to ensure accurate reporting
  • Support the management of month end close process for multiple entities including balance sheet account reconciliations, support schedule preparations, revenue recognition review and processing, and monthly expenses review
  • Produce Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements, including periodic management reports, support to review with Director, Finance & Contracts and Leadership team
  • Review and approve payroll processing throughout the month for all entities. Review Journal Entries posted by Staff Accountants. Act as backup for payroll processing. Ensure payments are processed on time


Financial Planning, Forecasting, and Tracking

  • Prepare a monthly summary report for general and administration expenditures and business development expenditures to review and monitor with the Director, Finance & Contracts and Managing Director of Agility
  • Develop ad hoc financial plans and forecasts for the firm to support operational growth and development
  • Assist with the creation and administration of the Annual Corporate Budget. Monitor, analyze, and evaluate monthly the financial management of the company against budget and growth objectives. Model growth projections as needed
  • Act as a backup to after-award program budget analysis to support Program Finance Manager


Manage Internal and External Financial, Accounting and Compliance Staff

  • Support the management of internal finance and accounting staff including the preparation and oversight of professional development planning
  • Support the management of relationships with external finance and accounting resources, including outsourced tax, audit, and legal vendors
  • Liaise with tax preparers and provide support to the preparation of annual returns
  • Liaise with auditors and provide support to the preparation of annual audit reports


Policy and Procedure Development

  • Lead the development and implementation of financial policies, processes, and procedures
  • Establish and maintain internal financial control procedures
  • Maintain appropriate financial accounting records, systems, and tools to support the needs of the firm


Business Development

  • In consultation with project leads and business development coordinator as appropriate
  • Provide proposal documentation to support financial statement requests
  • Provide support documentation for Indirect Rate Submissions

Requirements

  • BA/BS and 8+ years’ experience or graduate degree and 6+ years’ experience;
  • International accounting experience required;
  • Accounting certification (such as CPA or ACCA) required;
  • Knowledge of GAAP and International Accounting Standards;
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel, and Word required;
  • Extensive knowledge of and successful experience with USAID and other international funders;
  • Knowledge of FAR, AIDAR, and 2 CFR 200 (as well as OMB) required;
  • Experience working with various financial and accounting systems preferred;
  • Adept at communicating technical information to non-technical audiences;
  • Demonstrated team and people management abilities with a focus on growing staff, mentoring and coaching junior professionals;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with external strategic partners, donors, and stakeholders;
  • Fluency in English, second language a plus;
  • Outstanding cross-cultural communication skills, including the ability to relate respectfully with staff at all levels, ages, genders, nationalities and orientations as well as across work areas;
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%
