Job Title: Buyer Clerk (Purchasing Specialist) – Mining Operations
Location: Nakaseke District, Kapeeka, Uganda
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer Clerk (Purchasing Specialist) to support procurement activities for our mining operations in Kapeeka, Nakaseke District. The ideal candidate will have an academic background in Geology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or another mining-related discipline, with experience working in a government mining department or a mining company. Previous purchasing experience is not mandatory, as training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials, equipment, and services required for mining operations.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, negotiate prices, and ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare purchase requests, purchase orders, and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate with site departments to understand procurement requirements and priorities.
- Track purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Verify purchased materials against specifications and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
- Conduct market research to identify reliable suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support inventory planning by coordinating with warehouse and site teams.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance and maintaining good supplier relationships.
- Perform any other procurement-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in:
- Geology
- Mining Engineering
- Mineral Processing
- Earth Sciences
- Or another mining-related field.
- Experience working in a government mining department or a mining company is required.
- Purchasing or procurement experience is an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Good understanding of mining materials, equipment, and industry operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
