We are the leading distributor of medical equipment, supplies, and consumables in Uganda, especially in imaging, radiology, critical care, surgery, and medical furniture. Our medium-term plan for the Ugandan Market is to venture more into medical laboratory equipment and reagents, while our expansion plan is to focus on the East African Market. We are dedicated to providing our clients with high standard and quality medical equipment with dedicated, committed, and professional service support.

1. Job Purpose
The Medical Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting, marketing, and selling Medequip Uganda's medical equipment, medical supplies, and consumables to hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other healthcare institutions. The successful candidate will develop new business opportunities, maintain strong relationships with existing customers, achieve assigned sales targets, and support the growth of Medequip’s medical equipment business in Uganda.

2. Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, Business/Sales & Marketing, or another relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of proven experience in medical equipment, medical supplies, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sales.
• Previous experience dealing directly with hospitals, clinics, laboratories, doctors, pharmacists, biomedical engineers, procurement departments, or healthcare organizations is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of the Ugandan healthcare market.
• Good knowledge of medical equipment and/or medical consumables.
• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
• Willingness to travel within Kampala and other regions of Uganda.

3. Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
• Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities.
• Promote and sell Medequip's medical equipment, supplies, and consumables.
• Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and healthcare professionals.
• Conduct regular customer visits and field sales activities.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on submitted quotations.
• Negotiate with customers and assist in closing sales.
• Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
• Follow up on outstanding customer orders, deposits, and payments.
• Develop new accounts while maintaining existing customers.

Product Promotion & Demonstration
• Present medical equipment and products to doctors, nurses, biomedical engineers, procurement teams and hospital management.
• Conduct product demonstrations and presentations.
• Develop sufficient technical and product knowledge to explain product specifications, applications, advantages and benefits.
• Participate in CME programs, exhibitions, conferences, product launches and promotional activities.
• Coordinate with the technical team for equipment demonstrations, installation and customer training when required.

Market Development
• Identify new market opportunities and potential customers.
• Monitor competitors, pricing, products and market activities.
• Provide management with regular market intelligence.
• Identify upcoming hospital projects, tenders and procurement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a database of potential and existing customers.

Customer Relationship Management
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and key decision-makers.
• Regularly follow up with customers after quotations, demonstrations and sales.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Support the after-sales process by coordinating customer issues with the relevant internal departments.

Reporting & Administration
• Submit daily, weekly and monthly sales/activity reports.
• Maintain accurate customer and sales records.
• Update sales pipeline and opportunity status.
• Prepare visit reports and market feedback.
• Ensure all sales activities are properly documented.
• Follow Medequip's company policies, procedures and reporting requirements.

5. Preferred Experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience selling, medical equipment, Imaging & radiology equipment, Ultrasound, Surgical equipment, Endoscopy, Critical-care equipment, Anaesthesia & ventilators, Patient monitoring, Dialysis equipment, medical furniture medical consumables and hospital supplies 
  • Experience working with government hospitals, private hospitals, NGOs, private healthcare groups and hospital procurement departments will be an added advantage.

6. Performance Expectations / KPIs
The successful candidate will be evaluated based on:
• Monthly and quarterly sales achievement.
• Number of new customers acquired.
• Value of new business generated.
• Number of qualified sales leads generated.
• Conversion of quotations into orders.
• Customer retention and relationship management.
• Number of customer visits conducted.
• Sales pipeline development.
• Collection/follow-up of customer payments.
• Accuracy and timeliness of sales reports.
• Market intelligence and competitor information provided.
• Contribution to tenders and major project opportunities.

7. Personal Attributes

8. Experience.
Candidates must have at least one (1) year of relevant experience in medical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical equipment sales.
