Farm Manager

Crop management:

• Plan, organize and oversee planting, cultivating and harvesting of crops.
• Monitor crop growth, soil health, pest control, and irrigation practices.
• Implement and manage crop rotation strategies and sustainable farming practices.
• Maintain records of crop yields, pesticide usage and harvest dates.

Livestock management:

• Manage breeding, feeding and care of livestock (e.g. cattle, poultry, etc.).
• Ensure the health and well-being of animals, including vaccinations and medical care.
• Oversee the maintenance of the farm and other animal housing.

Farm operations:

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of the equipment and machinery (tractors, harvesters, etc.).
• Manage the ordering and use of supplies (fertilisers, seeds, feed, tools, etc.).
• Monitor weather conditions and adjust farming schedules as needed.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Labor operations:

• Hire, train and supervise farm workers and seasonal labourers.
• Assign tasks and manage labour scheduling to optimise farm efficiency.
• Provide clear direction and ensure tasks are completed safely and to high standards.

Financial management:

• Create and manage farm budgets, ensuring that farm operations are cost-effective.
• Track expenses and revenue, including sales of crops, livestock and farm productions.
• Assist with the development of business strategies to maximise farm productivity and profitability.

Sustainability and innovation:

• Implement sustainable farming practices to promote environmental health.
• Research and integrate new farming technologies and techniques to improve productivity and efficiency.

Communication and reporting

• Communicate regularly with the farm owner operations manager regarding farm progress, challenges and goals.
• Provide periodic reports on farm activities, financial status and crop yields.
• Build relationships with vendors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
