Role Description The Construction Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Kampala. This role involves overseeing day-to-day construction activities, coordinating site operations, and ensuring work is completed according to design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The Construction Specialist will review technical drawings, support architectural and structural implementation, and monitor progress against project schedules and budgets. Daily responsibilities include conducting site inspections, identifying and resolving issues, preparing reports and documentation, and liaising with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. The role also requires maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to continuous improvement of construction processes.
Qualifications
- Strong construction and site supervision skills, with experience overseeing building and infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of architecture and ability to interpret and apply drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency in inspection and quality control to ensure compliance with safety, structural, and regulatory standards.
- Ability to manage budgeting tasks, including cost estimation, tracking expenses, and supporting financial planning for projects.
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with local construction codes, standards, and permitting processes in Kampala or similar environments is an advantage.
