Job summary

The child care supervisor provides overall leadership in the daily care,learning and wellbeing of children at Totsandhoppers daycare centre in Lweza. The role ensures a safe nurturing and stimulating environment, supervises caregivers, supports child develoment and serves as a key link between management, staff and parents

Job descriptions & requirements

1. Child Care & Development

  • Ensure the safety, protection, and wellbeing of all children at all times
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate learning and play activities
  • Monitor children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Support children’s routines (feeding, toileting, rest, hygiene)
  • Identify and respond to children with special needs or developmental concerns


2. Health, Safety & Safeguarding

  • Enforce child safeguarding and protection policies
  • Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards are maintained
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, or emergencies
  • Ensure proper nutrition practices and meal supervision


3. Parent & Guardian Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with parents on children’s progress and wellbeing
  • Address parent concerns professionally and confidentially
  • Support parent meetings, open days, and feedback sessions


4. Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate attendance, learning, and incident records
  • Prepare reports for centre management as required
  • Support enrolment and transition of children between age groups


Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate in Early Childhood Development (ECD/ECE) or related field
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in a daycare or early learning setting
  • Previous experience supervising staff is an added advantage

  • Strong understanding of child development and early learning
  • Leadership and team coordination skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and professionalism
