Job Summary
The Branch Manager (BM) plays a key leadership role, heading the branch team and ensuring smooth and efficient operations in line with SAJIDA Microfinance’s policies, procedures, and strategic objectives. The BM is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing business growth, ensuring portfolio quality, and leading staff to achieve operational excellence and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Branch Operations & Management
• Oversee day-to-day branch operations, ensuring full compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise all branch staff and ensure efficient coordination across all operational areas (loans, customer service, cashiering, etc.).
• Maintain a secure, disciplined, and professional working environment.
• Monitor branch performance and ensure high standards of operational efficiency and customer service.
2. Credit & Lending Management
• Oversee and verify potential clients identified by Field Officers and Credit Officers, ensuring proper assessment and creditworthiness to maintain a healthy loan portfolio and strong branch performance.
• Visit microfinance groups daily to supervise field activities, reconcile members’ passbooks and group resolution books, ensure group discipline and timely repayment, and facilitate regular client admissions in ongoing groups to maintain portfolio growth.
• Oversee proper loan disbursement to the right clients, ensure loan utilization integrity, promote timely repayments, safeguard client passbooks, and uphold overall client responsibility and discipline.
• Maintain portfolio quality by regularly cross-checking client repayments and ensuring that groups collectively take responsibility for managing and recovering overdue clients. Ensure full adherence to credit policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines.
3. Business Development & Client Relationship Management
• Drive branch growth through strategic client acquisition, loan promotion, and customer retention initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, community leaders, and local stakeholders.
• Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to expand branch outreach and enhance profitability.
4. Team Leadership & Development
• Enhance teamwork and collaboration among all branch staff to strengthen overall branch performance.
• Motivate team members to achieve their individual and collective targets and provide regular refresher training to improve knowledge, skills, and service quality.
• Lead, coach, and mentor branch team members, including Field Officers, Credit Officers, and Office Assistants.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, training sessions, and capacity-building programs.
• Foster a high-performance culture that aligns with SAJIDA Microfinance’s mission and values.
5. Reporting & Compliance
• Prepare, analyze, and submit accurate and timely reports on branch performance, operations, and financials.
• Regularly communicate Field Officer (FO) and Credit Officer (CO)–wise performance results and feedback every month to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure strict compliance with all financial, operational, and audit standards.
• Address and resolve FMPU & audit observations promptly and effectively.
Required Competencies
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Sound knowledge of microfinance operations, credit management, and regulatory compliance.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in data management, reporting, and digital tools used in microfinance operations.
Compensation
● Salary: UGX 800,000

Please note that successful candidates must be willing and able to relocate from Kampala (or their current location) to any part of the country where the company has branches.
